I don't often wear trousers but I see myself more and more opting towards them over skirts and dresses. These River Island Disco-Pant style trousers are my current favourites. They come in different leg lengths (obviously I wear the short versions!) and they feel perfect. Similar to disco pants without the shine but all of the sucky-in-ness that I like in the disco pants! I wasn't sure about these shoes at first either. I love them but they are so inappropriate for winter, but I know if I did return them I would eventually be annoyed that I missed them. They were only £28 which I think is fairly good for what they are as they look and feel a lot more expensive than they look. Although my feet won't be thanking me later when they are freezing cold!
The main reason I tend to wear skirts is that I always worry about them making me look an odd shape. If you are a long time follower you know might have noticed I battle with my weight a lot. I tend to fluctuate between a 8-10-12 (I was also a size 14 when I started this blog!) on a regular basis depending on the time of year! Being homeless made me pile on the lbs (home cooking and then eating out when I was at friends houses) so Im currently about a 12 on the bottom. Im pretty curvy at the end of the day but for a change I don't feel uncomfortable in trousers. I always felt it enhanced my lumps and bumps and generally made me feel weird. I think I've actually found more trousers that suit my petite curvy frame rather than trying to squeeze myself into jeans that don't suit me or are too long. I know some of you guys never wear trousers either but I cant say how happy and confident I feel in them now I have ones that actually fit properly. Compare that to to how I used to feel it's a massive step forward! I cant stress the importance of shopping around when it comes to finding bottoms (as in trousers, not actual bums!)!
Tonight Im off to events again. A Paul Mitchell one and a Estee Lauder one and then my favourite is coming over for a sleepover! Cant wait (: Last night I went to a Urban Decay event and met with the Product Development Director of their products which was incredible. So interesting learning about the origins of products, how they name them and the process behind some of my favourite makeup. When we left La Bodega Negra we even saw Geri Halliwell (She is TEENY TINY)! How crazy!

Love your shoes! x

You look great, I'm kind of all over the place with my sizing too so I know how you feel!

You always look great at any size Lily but I sympathise a lot with you; I don't fluctuate much now since I think I found the size I'm comfortable at but I've been an 8/10/12 and currently a 10/12-14 depending on the store. Pain in the bum! x
ReplyDeleteI love how you've mentioned about sizing, as I think alot of us have problems with it. You look fantastic though Lily x
ReplyDeleteI almost bought these but chickened out. I am small but curvey and have avoided trousers for years as they make me feel chubby but I really want to feel more confident wearing them - I'm sick of spending so much money on tights! x
ReplyDeleteyou look great in the trousers. <3 the shoes and jumper too! xx
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your flats, the details are adorable!

I'm the same with trousers, I don't like my inner thighs(!!) but I get so bored of skirts not being long enough for just tights and leggings get so saggy. These trousers look really nice though, I think I'm gonna have to try them out :)
ReplyDeleteIm' not a huge fan of the shoes, but i think they look perfect with this lovely outfit (:

Lily, I love this look! The shoes are very Valentino - I love them. I'm so drawn to them I think I'll have to get a pair! I love shoes with pointy toes, if you're only little (say 5'4 and under) I think they make you look taller!
ReplyDeleteI'm a massive fan of trousers. Along with opaque black tights I think they are so flattering, I'm also a 12 on bottom (a 10 on the odd occasion) and I find them more flattering than skinny jeans that cling to everything. I think it's the tailored streamlined silhouette they give! The skinny cigarette style ones are my fave that show a little bit of ankle... they're so pretty, retro and sophisticated!
Love everything with this outfit, this is one of my favourite look of yours by far!

I love your shoes, anything with studs and i'm sold!
ReplyDeletehttp://immisarah.blogspot.co.uk/ x
I totally agree with you - if you dress in the things that fit you well you feel more confident and look really good! It's taken me a while but I feel I finally know what suits me. I would have to work really hard to be an 8 so I'm happy to be a 10-12 and just wear what suits me, not what's trendy. People never think I'm anything but nice and slim (they've usually never seen me in a bikini though!)
ReplyDeleteYou always look great, I think its great that you've raised this point. I don't want to be all "fan-girly" but its kind of inspirational to those who might not be comfortable in their skins.
Those shoes are amazing! Love the outfit!
ReplyDeletehttp://whatalicedidtoday.blogspot.co.uk/
omg i need to buy everything your wearing! LOVE this outfit! lurex/glittery stuff is so subtly glam and flattering. you look amazing!
ReplyDeletei totally relate to the weight thing. i was an 8-10 (mostly 8) forever, until about 2yrs ago and now im more of a 10-12 (mostly 12). ive lost a lot of confidence in knowing how to dress to suit my shape. your blogs is defo one of my fave for outfit inspiration because you seem to have it sussed! :)
Those shoes are phenomenal xxx
ReplyDeleteyou look amazing as always xx
ReplyDeleteI always find it super hard to find trousers that fit properly as I have an awkward body shape! Totally understand. But when you find the right pair it's fab! xo
ReplyDeleteYour shoes are AMAZING! Xx

I think those trousers look gorgeous on you :) I struggle so much to find trousers that fit me too, 10's are always too small and 12s are too big so it's a bit of a nightmare! I love your shoes and I want to give you a big cuddle in that fluffy coat it looks so snuggly!
ReplyDeleteLove Holly x
When were you homeless?
ReplyDeleteI need a fur coat like yours :) I love the whole outfit & I have fallen in love with your shoes x
ReplyDeleteYou look great in trousers!!! I am a little more curvy on the bottom too so I know the feeling, I just embrace trousers and think oh what the heck! Loveeee the shoes too! x

I've got these disco pants I love them, only thing I've found is that they're not very stretchy, I had to get a size 12 where as I'm more an 8-10. Love love love these shoes aswell

I have AA disco pants, river island disco pants and my favs are my cheapest ones - from eBay. They're definitely not going to last though - in my opinion I think it's worth investing in AA ones.

as an avid dry shampoo user/addict I couldn't agree with you more about that tresemme crap. I bought it awhile ago & only used it a few times before tossing it.
ReplyDeleteyou look gorgeous though. duhhh.
I love your jumper! and your hair looks absolutely beautiful at the moment :) I don't think I could live without Bioderma now. My skin has improved so much now ALL of my make up gets removed in the evenings :)

Wow, I couldnt believe you were a size 14! That's my size now, but I'm really not comfortable in it at all sadly :(
ReplyDeleteAnyway!! I really love this look and those shoes are absolutely gorgeous! I bought a pair of pants from Topshop lately that's like a jeans/leggings chrome... It's so comfy and tucks all the right bits in somewhat like what you're wearing ;)
I have had these pants for a while now and love them to bits. They're much easier to wear than the AA disco pants but still suck you in in all of the right places. Love love love them.

I tend to fluctuate with my weight too, definitely depends on he time of year (Christmas is a bad time!) and I don't like most trousers, and only have one pair of jeans I like on me. I mostly wear skirts/dress.
ReplyDeleteGreat post!

Love this outfit! I'm having a bit of a no jeans / trousers period at the moment. I am much smaller on the top than on the bottom and I feel like they really highlight everything I don't like about myself! Maybe I just haven't found the right pair yet! xo
ReplyDeleteThese look amazing on you! I'm definitely going to take a look at these next time I'm in town. Great look Lily :)

sooo as always i could just go on and on about how cool you simply look in anything but i feel like writing a bit more today ;)
ReplyDeletefirst of all, i really like how the golden detailing on the shoes goes so wperfectly with the one on the trousers!
second - wow you get to go to so many events, it's probably kind of normal business now, huh? but really really cool though! :)
annnnnd finally - trousers, ugh!
i used to wear jeans nearly every day at some point; but i haven't even put on a pair of jeans since school started :( it's because i put on a bit weight and i'm scared they'll look silly and i also think jeans aren't that comfortable...
but i really like trousers, like suit kind of trousers in nice colourslike burgundy or corduroy trousers or cargos!
oh and your bottom/bum remark actually made me laugh as it caught me kind of off-guard :D
God bless you :)xx
I always wear trousers - my legs gets so cold otherwise! lol
ReplyDeletelovely outfit as usual!
http://sindy-ng.blogspot.co.uk
I would've never assumed you were a size 12 ever. And when you said you were a size 14 in your early posts, I used to read your posts and have leg envy! They looked tiny! I'm a generic size 8 all over, pants, skirts, dresses, tops = size 8. But I always compared my thighs with yours and thought yours were roughly the same with mine. Call me crazy, but I gots chubbeh legs.
ReplyDeleteI'm really fond of the top you are wearing aswell! If you're looking for a pair of flattering pants which are cheap, but fit really well and are feminine, these H&M pants: http://www.hm.com/gb/product/01982?article=01982-L
They don't look it on the pictures, but by god. I've got the black & burgundy pair and are too die for.
love all ur jewellery!!!!

It sounds so odd, but thank you so much for talking about your size, and your battle with your weight on here. I, too, struggle with my size, and when you look up to bloggers and see their lifestyles and their beautiful photos, you think they can never have an issue with their size and how they look! I, too, fluctuate between around an 8-10 and a 12-14, and often struggle to eat the right foods and find the time to exercise. It's refreshing to hear someone in fashion be honest about their size and completely positive. You're very inspirational!
ReplyDeleteOh, and those shoes and beauts, I'm definitely going to be looking for them when I next find myself in a Topshop! <3
