MAC Viva Glam Nicki

Im sure you'll be hearing alot about this over the next few weeks as its literally just been on pre-sale in the UK. But I've been waiting patiently for the release of MAC Viva Glam Nicki from the moment I read the press release about the collaboration on Temptalia. It came this morning and I literally swiped it on my lips as soon as I opened the box, From the initial shade description sounded too perfect to be true, and boy was I happy when it came. MAC Viva Glam Nicki is a bright mid toned pink with a yellow undertone. The yellow undertone means it does look more coral toned than your average bright pink lipstick. It's nice to see a pink thats not blue toned, Having warm toned skin I find it hard to find suitable pink lipsticks that flatter me. The finish is satin, although unlike alot of MAC satin lipsticks I found this to be much creamier than most, still full coverage in one swipe just not as semi-matte as I'd have hoped! As with all MAC Viva Glam lipsticks 100% of the proceeds (that's every penny from the sale) goes towards the MAC Aids fund. Its so refreshing to see a company give all of the money to charity from sales of a product rather than just a percentage. I'm going to be buying another tube of this as I know I'll be wearing it alot, plus its the same as donating to a charity and getting more than just a lipstick in return!

To my knowledge I don't think its actually on general sale yet, I bought mine during the presale using a code someone generously sent me!

Barry M 147 Peachy Pink

Barry M 147 Peachy Pink has to be one of my all time favourite lipsticks. I bought it when it first came out many, many moons ago, I could have even been at college when I first purchased it. Flash forward a few years and a massive makeup clear out and I rediscovered it in a dark corner of my always growing makeup collection. I ended up rebuying it a few months ago as it just can't be healthy having a lipstick that long!

Barry M 147 is a bright peachy pink coral toned lipstick with a matte formula. Barry M Peachy Pink is highly pigmented, typically totally opaque in just one swipe.  The formula is odd, It feels creamy but also stiff at the same time. I personally wouldn't say that the formula is drying as I don't think thats not the right way to describe how it feels. My lips don't feel dry when I wear it they just feel like the product sits on top of my lips rather than settles in. I think that generally matte lipsticks are a lot harder to apply, which I put down to their more pigmented nature. I'd say this shade just a bit chalky, I've not found a really nice creamy lipstick in this oh so perfect shade of peachy pink in all my makeup travels (Im looking at you Nars Bolereo!).

Despite all this I still wear this lipstick it a lot, It is definitely in my top five all time favourite lipsticks. The colour is spot on for me, Its not for everyone as like I said its quite stiff on the lips and if you do have dry lips it might not work with you. You could even wear a gloss over it like the Collection 2000 Lock N' Hold Lipgloss in Rock Steady to make it less matte. The Barry M lipsticks to have a variety of formulas and finishes so I wouldn't write off the brand after this one review. I have a few more shades I've picked up recently that I'll be posting about over the next few weeks!

Revlon Pink Pout

I've said before in a few posts that the Revlon Matte lipstick formula is my favourite "cheap" lipstick formula and I've done a few reviews on different shades in the past including Pink about it and Really Red. Pink Pout is a very "me" shade, a pale light pink. It has  a blue undertone which on me makes it look very mauvey. I've heard its a dupe for my all time favourite lipstick MAC Please Me, but Please Me is a little less blue toned. I personally think it looks like MAC Snob (one me anyway) much bluer and leads very very purple pink rather than yellow pink of MAC Please Me. Revlon matte lipsticks have a matte, suede like finish to it which makes it full coverage in one swipe. I don't find the formula drying in the slightest and lasts about 5-6 hours on me. I highly recommend trying out the Revlon matte lipsticks! These are the best drugstore lipsticks I've ever tried and are worth the money. Revlon lipsticks are generally cheaper to pick up on ebay than buying them in Boots or Superdrug and colours are often discontinued so if you see a shade you like I'd snap it right up!

By Terry isn't a brand I'm familiar with, I know you can buy it in Space NK and Laura used to rave about the Baume De Rose. I was given this at a Space NK preview event and was super excited to try it out, but no idea why it's taken me so long to get this review up! But I think now Im trying to get more content up some products I've been loving will be coming out of the woodwork and reviewed finally!

Aqua Tint's are super long lasting lip stain products, Dancefloor Flirt in the tube looks like is a bright neon pink/orange colour and on my lips it's a fresh natural pink. On me it gives me the look of just been nibbling on ton of fresh red berries. A sort of my lips but better type shade. The texture is out of this world, super smooth and cooling and you dont have to layer up the product to get a decent tint. It feels like water, completely weightless. It dries to a soft matte finish which I think looks absolutely gorgeous. As I have pigmented lips a pink lip tint that actually comes out pink on me is a rare find. It has to be the longest lasting lip product I've ever tried, It really is super long wearing and the colour takes almost all day to fade compeltey.

Another Topshop Lipstick?

Another recent addition to my Topshop Lipstick collection is Pillow Talk. Originally coming out as a limited edition shade with one of their colour collections, I always had it in my back of my mind to snap up if it was rereleased! PIllow talk is a light pretty pink, it reminds me of MAC Creme cup or of a MAC Prolongwear lipstick in Overtime. but a little more pink. The formula is the same as the usual Topshop Lipstick's, a mixture of a soft velvet sheen and full coverage pigmentation. I think Pillow Talk is a super easy colour to wear and unlike the Secret Admirer, which I recently reviewed!

60's inspired nude lipstick

Sorry there aren't any product shots of this! I couldn't actually find the images I took of it! But they are basically slimmish blue metallic bullets! Anyway! 17 Mirror Shine lipstick in Beehive is the perfect creamy nude pink lipstick. I was late to the party on this lipstick as I remember there being a bit of hype around it many years ago when I first started getting into blogging. It's incredibly similar to one of my all time favourite lipsticks, MAC Hue. They both have the same sort of colour family and texture. Slightly glossy and semi sheer, it enhances my lips natural tone and shape. I'm not a huge glossy lips fan and I find nudes to often look too milky on my pigmented lips but for this one seems to work really well for me. It looks fresh, girly and really soft. Defintely one to try if your looking for a MAC Dupe or a Drugstore nude!

Topshop Lips are one of my favourite ranges of lipsticks on the high street. Normally I wouldn't gravitate towards high street shops makeup offerings as they aren't really all that good. However Topshop Makeup has really made a impact in the cosmetics market. I really like formula of their lipsticks especially so I thought I'd do a round up post of all the ones I've swatched so far.

All of the lipsticks I've tried are creamy and pigmented with a satin-velvety finish. I find they all apply opaque in one or two swipes, I have very pigmented lips and always provide really nice full coverage. My only problems would be the fact I dont really like the taste of them, it's far too synthetic for my liking. Then again I really dont like any scents or tastes in my makeup at all! They retail for £8 each which is quite pricey when you think about it. It's in-between drugstore and low-high end lipstick price (for example MAC lipsticks are around £13) Personally, I can't say I've been let down by any of the ones I've tried in the past, even the ones that don't suit my skin tone as the product itself is very high quality. I currently have 5 shades but I do plan on expanding my collection a bit more with Topshop Idol and Topshop Ohh La La.

Typically the words "Dark" and "Cherry" send me running for the hills when it comes to makeup. The idea of straying from my bright pink or coral matte lip scares me a tiny bit! However after attending the Clarins A/W Launch I was given a Dark Cherry Rouge Prodige Lipstick. A glamourous dark red lipstick with a creamy lightweight formulation. The pigmentation is exceptional, being completly opaque in one soft swipe. I found this lipstick to be incredibly moisturing and provide a subtle semi glossy finish. It's glossy without being too glossy or slippy on the lips which I actually really love. Much to my surprise I really do like this lipstick on me and it fits so well with the trend for berry lips this Autumn Winter. I thought it looked so dark in the tube but once applied it looks much redder and brighter.

Drugstore Matte Lipsticks

I'm a huuuuge fan of matte lipsticks. I don't know why but I love the creaminess and the full coverage opaque look on the lips. I know alot of people really worry about them as they tend to emphasise imperfections and dryness on the lips. However the new Kate Moss for Rimmel Matte Lipsticks are unlike the old chalky, stiff and drying lipsticks. They are velvet soft, highly pigmented and apply so smoothly. Opqaue in one swipe they glide on without enhancing imperfections to leave a matte satin finish on the lips. They wear really comfortably and last a good 4 hours before needing reapplication. My only complaint would be their taste, they have that horrible drugstore synthetic fruity taste to them, but it does wear off quickly when worn. My personal favourites are #101 and #113. Although I have to admit #107 really impressed me, I don't really like dark lips but the dark cherry shade would be perfect for autumn winter!
