I filmed this before I went away and actually forgot that I already uploaded it! It's basically a short introduction to Youtube and what to expect from me as I move into a video format! I've said before Youtube intimidates me a bit, but I have got really stuck into it recently so Im trying to keep going until I feel more comfortable! Feel free to watch this on Youtube or subscribe to my channel!
So there it is, the follow up to my everyday hair style video with the products I use! I filmed this ages ago, probably about three weeks ago so it's taken a while to get up properly! I hope people find it interesting and a bit of a insight into the products I use! I feel so brainless when I talk about things on camera so below are some additional details on things that I might not have articulated properly within the video! Thanks for watching/reading and open on Youtube for all the details of what Im wearing/makeup, and please do subscribe to my channel, thumbs up etc!(:
Shampoo and Conditioner: At the moment I'm using two different Shampoo and Conditoner's: the Label M. Honey and Oat Shampoo and Conditioner and the Ojon Dry Recovery Shampoo and Conditioner. As my hair is fairly thin and fine I try not to use too weighty products but my main concern with my hair is it's dryness so I will normally pick a shampoo and conditioner for dry hair rather than one that adds body and volume. I wash my hair almost everyday as I work out alot, but on weeks when Im a bit lazy and not working out I wash my hair every three days.
Treatments:My all time favourite hair mask is Philip Kingsley Elastizer, Nothing I've ever used has left my hair so soft and nourished. I tend to use this once a week, or every 10 or so days. It's fairly expensive so I don't like to buy it very often! For a cheaper treatment I use the VO5 Moisture Mask as a in shower treatment. I use this probably twice a week as I really like the way it leaves my hair feeling. I always use a hair oil before I dry my hair too, Im currently using the Organix Morrocan Argan Oil in Morrocan Oil packaging because I prefer the pump action. I run about 4-5 pumps through the hair and then blow dry with a round brush.
Styling: The only product I use religiously is the Bumble and Bumble Texture Creme. I apply it to damp hair on the mid lengths and roots and then blow dry. I don't always use hairspray, It irritates my eyes most of the time so I skip it unless Im going on a night out or leaving the house and only use it when I style my hair with a curling iron. I would typically flip my hair over and spray either Ojon Volumising Hairspray or the Mark Hill Party the Night Away hairspray. The Ojon one is probably the most heavy duty hairspray and the Mark Hill is lighter but has a firm hold.
Well not that time but you know what I mean! Sorry it's a bit later but my blogging blip knocked me back a weeks! For all the deet's make sure you check the bottom bar of the video on the Youtube page! I didn't really have any new favourites this month, most of the products I've mentioned are ones i've been using for months now and have only just really started to appreciate them!
I saw that Kate uploaded a similar video today and it got me thinking about my drugstore/highstreet favourites so I made my own version. I'm generally a high end makeup girl but I really cannot enter Boots or Superdrug without coming out with a bag full of items! I had a good think about it and picked a few of the ones I reach for on a regular basis but it also gave me a bit of time to dig around my makeup collection and rediscover a few other items I've not used in a while but really loved. I'm gonna give them a test again and then possibly do another video based on drugstore recommendations! Feel free to watch this on Youtube for all the details and remember to like and subscribe (:
thing's i've liked this month…. Eyeko Black Magic Mascara:I don't know how many people remember Eyeko but they used to be a cutesy japanese inspired brand sold in Superdrug. Pocket friendly prices, cheap and of decent quality. They rebranded a few years back and are now are sold in Space NK, Harvey Nicks and QVC. I LOVE this mascara as its super lengthening and volumising and perfect for building a wide eyed doll look. However this retails for £15 which I feel is so expensive considering I still think of the brand as the cheapy Superdrug one. I will probably buy this again as I do real enjoy the product I just cant get over the inflated price tag. Charles Worthington Intense Rescue Melting Balm: A recent addition to my usual hair routine this super nourishing oil based mask leaves the hair smoother, shiner and intensely moisturised. It's a bit like a facial balm for the hair as you melt it between warmed palms, leave on the hair for 20-30 minutes and then wash and dry hair as usual. I've noticed a huge difference in my hair since starting to use the mask. It's slightly over priced at almost £17, I bought it while on offer for £11 which I think is a fair price. Pixi Lash Line Ink: My all time favourite eyeliner! I find it incredibly easy to use and perfect to create my signature flick. The liner part is so thin and precise its perfect for making precise flicks without building up too much thickness. Its smudge proof, relatively waterproof, black and dries really quickly. I don't normally like pen liners as they dry out very quickly and lose their pointedness but I've been using this practically everyday for about a month now and I've had 0 problems with it so far!
Dr Lipp's Nipple Balm: A 100% Lanolin Lip balm that has been my absolute live saver the last few weeks. My lips get so dry in the winter, to the point where they crack and bleed almost every single day. The balm is super thick and is quite hard to actually squeeze out the tube, however it provides a good thick layer of balm on the lips that protects them from the elements.
Lush Mint Julips Lip Scrub: I've never used a lip scrub until recently but it's a really soft exfoliating balm for the lips. It tastes exactly like After Eights which I absolutely love. Although it might be a touch over priced for what it is but I do think it's absolutely excellent at removing dead skin gently and easily.
MAC Style: A super pretty true peach slightly shimmery blush. Very brightening and illuminating on the face and is so flattering on my skin. I've been using this religiously for most of November as it adds a subtle fresh faced glow without being too obvious. I've been applying this with a Real Techniques Contour brush onto the apples of my cheeks.
Elnett Heat Protect Styling Sprays: These are pump action heat protector come hair sprays. I've been using this pretty much every time I've styled my hair since I bought them. The volumising one is perfect for getting volume in the hair without it getting dry or crispy. You spray it into damp hair and then blow dry as normal, It leaves my hair feeling volumised and blown out without too much product. It claims to lock volume in for three days, which I don't really agree with it lasting all that long. But I do think that it's excellent at adding volume into your hair after washing. I've been using the curl one as a heat protector
La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo: I had massive breakouts towards the beginning of the month due to hormones and this has been the only skin item I've been using since. It's a silky gel that reduces sebum and unclogs poets. Honestly, it's worked wonders on my skin and aided the healing of my breakouts, reducing pore size, smoothing out my skin and removing some of the congested areas. I use this twice a day and have noticed a such HUGE difference to my skin. I've only used this on my skin this month, and although it's hardly a luxe skincare type of product it does work so well for me!
I feel like Im constantly doing empties videos at the moment but honestly I've just been trying to use up what I have rather than keep buying more and more stuff I don't need. Hope you enjoy the video above and read below for more information that I might not have mentioned within the video! All information about what Im wearing and that jazz is in the bottom bar of the video, and please subscribe if you liked it (:
LUSH Big Shampoo (£11.50): I adore this shampoo as it's great for clarifying the hair as well as adding volume and shine. Sea salt is such a strange thing to put on your hair but it does honestly really work amazingly well! One tub lasts me around 4-5 washes which is not that much considering the hefty price tag. I probably only use it once a week max, but it's a nice addition to my usual haircare routine!
Origins Clear Improvement Mask (£19): My favourite deep cleaning mask! Packed full of white clay and charcoal this mask gets right down into the pores and gets all the gunk out. Perfect for congested or breakout prone skin to combat the skincare issues that cause bad skin. I love to have a good pamper at the weekends so this is perfect just to lie back and let it work. It goes quite hard after it's been on for a while which I like as it feels like all the pores are being cleansed and my
Vo5 Moisture Soak Elixir (£4.49): I always rave about this hair mask. I use it 2-3 times a week at the moment as it's so quick, easy and cheap. For the price you cant really go that wrong! I use this as a pre washing treatment and apply it while in the shower. It takes one minute and leaves the hair feeling smoother, softer and nourished. Over time I've seen this really improve the manageability of my hair.
Boots Botanics Hot Cloth Cleanser (£5.99): I remember hearing about this cleanser earlier in the year but I only managed to get hold of it agyer the rebrand and reformulation. I cant compare it to the original but personally I really like this one. It removes my makeup effortlessly without the need to go in with a micellar water to get the excess off. I can even use it on my super sensitive eyes. Balms are perfect for the winter months as they stop the skin from drying out from harsher gel or foaming cleansers. I'm a real covert to balm cleansing though! It's also 97% organic.
Original Source Mint and Walnut Shower Gel (£2.99): A uplifting and invigorating shower gel for those cold winter mornings. I buy this all the time as I really like the way it smells so strongly and goes slightly tingly on the skin. These are normally on offer for £1 or 3 for 2 so I tend to stock up whenever they are cheap! The walnuts don't really scrub all that much but they do add a nice roughness to the shower gel.
Laura Mercier Invisible Setting Powder (£29): I bought this probably about two years ago and have probably used it less than a handful of times. It just made my skin look cakey and ashy, which for a supposedly translucent powder just isn't right. It's very expensive for what it is too! I currently use the Laura Mercier Mineral powder to set my foundation which I absolutely love! I see so many bloggers rave about this setting powder but I just couldn't for the life of me work out why it looked so weird on me. It did control my oil and set my makeup but it just threw my colouring off completely.
MAC Moisture Cover Concealer (£14): Im a bit indifferent to this, It was okay but tended to get more and more orange as I wore it. NW20 isn't my shade (for when i'm pale or tanned) so it always looked a bit stark and cakey on my face. It does cover up redness and under eye circle well though! I would recommend the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer over this though as it's very cheap and works just as well if not better!
Pixi Lash Line Ink (£12): My favourite eyeliner of all time which has even taken over my love for Loreal Superliner Carbon Gloss. It's super pigmented, smooth, deep black and long lasting. I find it doesn't budge or migrate throughout the day. A perfect liner for those who are just getting into doing liquid eyeliner as the nib is long and precise.
A super quick tutorial on how I do my wavy bedhead style that I wear quite often. For the purpose of this tutorial I used the Cloud 9 wide plate straighteners as they are super quick to use and perfect for getting that beachy look. As you all know I like the messy hair look (embrace messy hair, always!) and I hate spending time doing it so they are the perfect way too quickly style your hair with minimal effort! Any questions or whatever please feel free to ask and I'll get back to you! Don't forget to like the video and subscribe to my Channel!
Not to get all cliche on you but I really cant believe it's been a month since I last did this! I think Decemeber was one of those crazy months where I literally forgot what was going on half the time. Anyway check out my recent video on the things I loved in December, same as most months really! Im such a creature of habit these days! I need to get out of my product rut! Remember to watch on Youtube for all the deets including shopping links, what i'm wearing and be sure to subscribe and thumbs up!
I made this video a while ago but never ended up posting it on here for no real reason at all apart from it probably just slipped my mind! Check the video on Youtube for more details (:
I filmed a video a few days ago of me doing a tag that the beautiful Patricia tagged me to do. I'm sick and I don't really look like me, but oh well! Hope you enjoy a chatty one from me for a change! I get a bit emotional towards the end, I think I'm a bit of a mess at the moment! Watch on Youtube for more deetz.
I've always been reluctant to share my skincare routine, I don't know why it's just one of those things that is hard to talk about as it's personal. Over the years I've learnt that skincare is SO subjective. To the point where something that works wonders for you might not work at all for me. It's easy to get caught up in marketing or even blogger hype and buy everything that people sing the praises of, yet nothing works. However recently I've got firmly into a little routine that works well for me, keeps my breakouts at bay and has been helping clear up some of my skincare issues.
I know people are probably going to look at my routine and think its super basic, but I used to do the whole cleanse, tone moisturise, eye cream etcetc and although I know the importance of doing this. I've over complicated my skincare routine for years but never had results like I do now. It just wasn't working for me. While I do slowly want to go back to a solid routine of products but for now these are what work for me and my skin and I'm sticking to them. I actually only use two products on a daily basis, but I cant tell you how much these two products have changed my skin.
A little about my skin for reference but do take all my recommendations with a pinch of salt! salt-II have combination skin, although it's somewhat on the oilier side sometimes. Often it can get dehydrated and feel tight and taught. My skin tone is fairly sallow due to the paleness and yellow undertones in my skin. I do have breakout prone skin, especially around my chin during hormonal periods, and I limit my dairy as much as I can as it breaks me out.
First product in my two step routine is the Clarins Pure Melting Gel. This is a balm cleanser than melts down into an oil once warmed. I apply this all over my face twice daily, morning and night. Initially I'll use it to remove all my makeup, wipe with a hot flannel and then I'll repeat this to make sure my face is completely clean. I also do this once in the morning to refresh my face while in the shower. I'm so lazy when it comes to makeup removal this really cuts out all the faff as it's so quick and easy to do. Definitely a lazy girls cleanser!
The other product I use is the La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo. I've sung this one's praises for a while now but this sebum busting serum has done wonders for my skin. The overall tone, appearance and look of my skin has completely changed. Breakouts are kept at bay, pore size has reduced and my skin looks clearer and brighter. I use this twice a day, morning and night, although I have been known to apply this a few times in the evening! I use it in place of a moisturiser as I've found my skin is still supple and soft even though I've heard this can be drying on some people. I've not felt the need to use an extra moisturiser with this even despite the colder weather.
Other products I use on a semi regular basis is the Aesop Parsley Seed Mask which I really enjoy using. It has a fresh clarifying scent and dries down to a clay like finish. It leaves my skin feeling brighter and less congested. I was recently introduced to the REN Sensitive range and I've been giving theF10 Smooth and Renew Mask a whirl, it's the baby sister to the REN Glycolatic Peel (which I do like as well, I've just used it up!) It's a sticky thick mask which is almost like marmalade on the face. Packed full of fruit acid's it gently exfoliates and refreshes the skin. I've found it's really helped reduce some of my scarring and keep my face smooth and refined.
Occasionally I'll use Alpha H Liquid Gold, possibly once or twice a week alongside my Effaclar Duo. Especially when my skin is broken out or starting to heel from breakouts. The Glycolatic acid helps aid the healing time of my spots as well as helping renew some of my scarring on my face. Another product I use on occasion is the Caudalie Beauty Elixir Generally when my face is feeling a bit blah in the morning I give it a good squirt of this refreshing uplifting mist and I feel I can face the day again.
So thats my super short skincare routine, 6 products but I really only use two daily! I've really noticed how much my skin has calmed down since getting into this routine and sticking to it. The minimal products are perfect for a lazy girl like me!
As my last UK Drgustore/Highstreet picks video went down really well I thought I'd get on and do another one. Admittedly I like high end makeup and do buy it on a regular basis. But I think there are tons of UK drugstore items out there that are just as good as their high end counterparts. I think UK highstreet beauty brands do lipsticks and nail polishes really well and I think I might do a video next on some of my favourite nail polishes and lipsticks on a budget! Hope you liked the video, and do let me know what you'd like to see next! Watch on Youtube for more details and shopping links, as well as all the information on what Im wearing and to subscribe!
Sooooo me and my good friend Zoe aka The London Lipgloss decided get organised for a change and do a video together. We've been talking about it for months now but we are both too lazy and not motivated enough whenever she stays over (pretty much every week) to get off our bums and actually do one. However we've both got the blogging bug recently and even though we didn't film this as early as we planned we managed to get the Blindfolded Makeup Tag video done for both of our channels. I was genuinely so worried for most of this video and you can really see the sheer terror in my eyes for 90% of the video! You can go over and watch me do her makeup on her Channel! Remember to like & Subcribe!
I posted this ages ago but I still haven't got around to popping it on here! Oops! This is why it's good to keep subscribed to my channel because I literally am the most scatterbrained person at the moment. Anywya, the usual drill. Some of my favourite products for the month of April. Some are completely obvious and I've featured them before in other favourites videos! Hope you enjoy!
