jailbait II

top: H&M
belt: primark
necklace: accessorize
skirt: H&M
nails: nubar rosso

So today I spent the day at home. Lack of sleep paired with my massive university workload at the moment. Took a hour out to take some photos for my blogshop and updated with about 11 new things, All the items that are listed are still on sale. I'm going to stagger the things I've photographed so people who log on at different times can get a chance of getting something! Ill probably update it in the next few days with the next batch of items! Im doing a massive wardrobe clear out so expect alot of things going in there.

This outfits pretty much a variation on what I've worn before. This top has to be the most easiest thing to wear in the world. I tend to wear it with a black blazer and leggings on lazy days, but decided to smarten it up a bit by adding a high waisted skirt and a belt. This little apple necklace was something I found when clearing out all my jewellery boxes for things to sell on. I hadn't worn in it forever and thought it added a little touch to it without losing the stripes detail. I seem to have lost my go-to red rosary necklace, So Im totally going to have to buy another one from here.

To address my "superfical" comment about Seth Rogan on Sunday, It really gets to me that I have to explain things on here or add a disclaimer to justify what I'm saying half the time. If people thought about it and read properly, rather than reading one word and taking out of context and thus warping what I was originally saying. If you were put it context and think logically, So Seth Rogan is typecast as lazy, overweight, stoner, who's a a loveable goofy joker. Hes someone who alot of people would consider a "weird crush". For his role in The Green Hornet he lost 30lbs, hence why I was saying was it acceptable to fancy him now that hes not fat. I even said, I have such a crush on Seth Rogan, not that I didnt fancy him when he was big, I was asking if it was acceptable (ie not a weird crush) to fancy him now. I was making a pop culture referenced joke. Thing is I think most people read it like that, But then you have the few that see the fat comment and don't read what I was actually saying.

I do get that things can be read wrong on the Internet, It just feels like I cant say anything anymore without someone taking it the wrong way. Seriously, some people think Im superficial, but when people just look a the surface of things, take it out of context, its obviously going to sound off. And before you go saying "ignore the haters" Its not always the "haters" saying these things, I wouldnt class the people who said this as them, and I have no beef with you if you had. And even if they do hate me then fine! Im just saying this in general really, Look at the bigger picture before reading something and getting annoyed about it.

  2. I think it's so funny how people can just take one comment, and turn it into something obscene and totally out of context.
You seem just like a normal girl who has her own opinions and jokes, why can't people get that??
The fact that you're doing uni work makes myself feel less alone!! :) xx

  3. I have that top!
Here Here Lily, I generally think people like to pick apart people who have an inch of success. I think the majority understood what you were saying. It baffles me why anyone would get themselves into such a tizz about what anyone on blogs would say over such a small comment. Oh well!
Hope the uni work is going ok!

  7. you definitely don't come across superficial! And you really don't need to apologize as much as you do, it's not your fault they don't read the sentence right! Your hair looks in great condition at the moment, love the way you've pinned it :) These style of tops really really suit your figure, you look great :) x xx

  9. i think some people like to pounce on stuff people say just to make a bit of a stir, i wonder if they would be so bold and obnoxious to your face? its like when i look at the comments of a youtube video, the other day i was watching Natalya's (filthygorgeousmakeup)video and someone actually said to her "your lips really annoy me" HOW is that ever necessary?!

oh i dont always comment on your posts but i always enjoy reading them, so there are people reading that don't make some stupid assumption about you from something you write on YOUR blog. its pretty rude of them to comment on something that's your opinion in the first place!

p.s. i NEED to find one of those bodycon skirts but i never find one in my h&m. sorry for the ridic. long comemnt :)

  10. What you said isn't offensive or uptight or whatever at all, Jeez!
I mean, I can see how people would take it wrong but it's obvious you don't mean it like that.

On a lighter note, I like this outfit a lot, I was gonna get that top but decided not to, tuttt!x

  11. I feel bad for you that you have to watch what you say. I'm not going to say 'ignore the haters' but I would hate it if you held back from saying whatever you want to say. Your opinions and jokes are what makes your blog more than just 'what I wore'. I don't know how people can get so offended by such a simple joke, do they not hear jokes like that all day, and say them themselves? I do! I make un-pc jokes all the time, get a sense if humour people. I just really want you to stay how you are, don't change! It's not your problem if people don't get you.

  12. Arhh god dang I hate it when people twist things! And it's not the first time you have to justify yourself on this blog which I think is really silly, because IT IS YOUR BLOG and you should be able to express your opinions however you want to. People are so sensitive sometimes.

  15. i tend to read but not always comment, sometimes i get put off commenting on blogs which have hundreds of comments on each post as i think that the owner won't necessarily have time to read them all so i feel like they would probably just get lost in the mix..(sorry if that's not true, it's not a criticism either!)

but i do think that with so many poeple reading, it's inevitable that you'll get a handful of those who don't read / get what you were trying to say..i guess it's easy to say ignore it, but i know if it was me i'd be botehred too so i get the frustration!

i really like the stripes, and i love th apple necklace :)

  19. Just don't respond? Don't know if that's easier said than done, but your blog's your own space, don't feel like you have to explain yourself to everyone. As long as you haven't written something outright offensive, then maybe don't address the negative comments?

I don't know, like I said that's probably easier to say than do! :)

  20. Lovelovelove this outfit! I have that top too but i'm always too lazy to pair it with anything besides leggings or black skinnies. You've given me a little inspiration to try it out with skirts/shorts. Thank you!

  22. I'm actually shocked that some people took what you said was offensive :S like hello! I found what you said quite funny, I think people just pick on you because your blog is so popular and some people can't handle others having success. If I was you I wouldn't even justify what I said because you shouldn't have too. We all have freedom to say what we want and if others can't deal then don't bloody read it!!

Anyway I love that top, I remember jailbait 1 and loved it on that post too x

  23. love the top. nearly bought it and i'm kinda wishing i had.

i totally replied to the seth comment, but not in a "you superficial bitch" way.
hope my reply wasn't taken out of context!

i hate hypersensitive overly P.C culture, where basically you can't say anything for fear of offending someone.x

    ReplyDelete
  24. Like you said earlier "why do people think I wouldn't read comments" it's the same with if people think you're superficial or whatever, you don't come across like either at all in your posts. But one or two people have obv made comments or assume that you are, and its almost like a false reputation that other people have given you precedes who you are and how you act?

I don't know if that makes sense (!) Y'know people just "presume" that you're like that praps because you have a lot of followers or wear nice things, if they actually read your blog or your tweets, they'd know you're not.
I know I'm totally rambling but I hope I've got my point across! Like you say.. I don't think it's haters either, and it's only a handful of people, but I think often its just assumptions by people who should praps take the time to actually read your posts n "get to know" you. As for the SR comment: when did sense of humour become a crime? ! & He's a babe ; )!

SORRYYY for the essay! & ps. Nubar Rosso is fast becoming my FAVE!

  25. I have that top and in the polka dots I'm always too scared to wear the polka dot one because it's a bit in your face and I only ever wear them with leggings because I cant think of anything else but I might get my bodycon out now and tuck it in I didn't think of that thanks.

Also I secretly love Seth Rogan, by the end of 'Knocked Up' when he read all the baby books I was totally smitten, he looks so much better now he's lost all the weight though and I completely get your point about watching what you say, sometimes I write things and then when I read over them they sound so different, I'm the queen of putting my foot in it in a text message so dont worry your not alone! xxx

  26. I've been a reader of your blog for a while now and quiet often you seem to have to have to explain comments you make when this is your space to speak your mind and write how you want to without having to worry about what every off the cuff comment will mean to someone else and second guessing what you want to say. to please everyone you would just have to write very boring posts which show no opinion or emotion and that's not why we read your blog. I say write once and for all a statement which explains that you dont mean to offend by what you say, you are a nice girl who is just talking as you would to your friends and to bear this in mind before flying off the handle and writing you a message saying that you are a mean person. Then if you receive any more messages like that the person obviously isn't a true reader of your blog as they haven't taken the time to get to know your writing style and to have read that statement.

  28. It never even occured to me when I read it that people might have a problem with your simple remark until you mentioned that people had commented about it. It was such a simple comment and just your opinion. I don't know why people pick on every single thing these days... is everyone just out to create drama? People complain about things on the TV, radio, in magazines, interviews and now just everyday bloggers! It's ridiculous!

Lovely outfit by the way. I love the contrast of stripes and block of colour. The necklace is a nice, simple touch and doesn't draw attention away from the outfit. Lovely.

  30. My comment about Seth Rogan (who I honestly had to google to find out who he is) wasn't about you calling someone fat, it was about your use of the word "acceptable". If you have a crush on him then good for you but I still don't understand why it's more acceptable now because he's slimmer than when he was larger. Maybe he was/is a weird crush because he's fat? I don't know. But you shouldn't think that it's weird to fancy someone because they're fat.

From my point of view your defence in your blog today is a poor one. It's still offending to those people out there who may be on the larger side who think that it's weird for people to like them because they're fat.

I'm not a hater or whatever people want to call people that express an opinion on a public blog, they shouldn't be called that unless they're personally attacking you, which I'm not doing. I've been reading your blog for probably a year now and have always enjoyed it but your comment on your last entry just made me stop and wonder why you'd say something like that.

I've read and re read both the last comment you made and your comment today and I still don't think you understand the ramifications of what you said. I've tried to re read it to find out if I read it wrong and I honestly don't believe that I have:

You're saying that it's not acceptable to fancy people who are fat.

I'm sure I can expect a barrage of negative comments towards me as you seem to have a loyal group of followers who are willing to defend any criticism of your blog because god forbid anyone dare lay a criticism at your door, but these people need to remember that this blog is public and there are people out there who have a differing opinion to you and we have just as much right to air it.

Just to prove that I'm not the only person thinking this, I've just shown your blog to my husband (I was trying to see if I was reading what you had written wrong) and he too doesn't really understand today's defence of yourself because you're still saying that it's unacceptable to fancy fat people.

"For his role in The Green Hornet he lost 30lbs, hence why I was saying was it acceptable to fancy him now that hes not fat."

  34. Ok, so i wasn't going to comment but after reading that comment above i think i need to.
Every day i have either a comment/email/text or tweet from Lily telling me that SOMEONE, somewhere, hasn't got what she said and it's bought hate on her.
Every day i listen to Lily have to justify herself on her blog, which is totally ridiculous because it's HER BLOG. She should never have to justify herself to anyone but herself.
I can't help but notice a little bit of a contradiction in your comment. You seem to have a real issue that ''god forbid'' Lilys followers/friends stick up for her. Yet you're fine to show your husband, who is OBVIOUSLY not going to disagree with you.
You say you've been following for a while, then you should know what shit Lily has to put up with and you should understand her writing style.
Not being rude, but i've seen Lilys exboyfriend. Someone who she loved an awful lot. He's a bigger guy but she was still with him?!
Lily herself was also a bigger girl back in the day. So for her to criticise someone fancying someone else who is bigger is just as laughable at your comment. Some times people take things far too seriously.

P.s Lily, you look amaze. Obz.

I got the joke and I think everyone who thinks would and there´s no reason for you to worry about those who don´t think so take it easy. 50. Totally agree with what the lovely Victoria said; at the end of the world, it's your effin blog! So you can say what you want - even if you did say you didn't fancy him when he was fat (which you didn't) it's entirely up to you what you write on your blog - the fact that you have a lot of readers does not mean you have to edit flippant comments to ensure you don't offend anyone, or to answer to anyone should something be misunderstood.

  54. It's so nice that everyone sticks up for Lily. I can see how someone maybe read into the comment wrong, but you have to admit, the physical appearance of people IS important in attraction. It's not the MOST important thing, but it's there, and it's natural. So yes, Seth Rogan is more attractive now that he's lost weight. It doesn't mean that he wasn't worth fancying before, but there's nothing wrong with saying that he's gotten more attractive recently. Honestly, Lily, I don't even think you needed to defend yourself at all!

  62. There are a lot of people out there who take everything so literal that they believe it pertains to their existence. No matter what you say, even if it is a little comment about seth rogan or whatever, someone out there may not like it, even if its something so insignificant. So, who cares? If you had to always watch what you say, then it wouldn't be YOUR blog. If they have a problem with what you say, then why are they reading your blog in the first place? It's all a matter of opinion. I personally think seth rogan is fugly, but that's my opinion! So say whatever you want and forget about those people who are overly opinionated and take everything out of context. They make life not enjoyable! Haha xp

  69. I know I rambled on and on earlier but I was just reading some of the comments which have been added and so just wanted to throw this out there!

I don't think the problem is Lily not "getting" why people might find what she said offensive or whatever, I think it's the girl who found it offensive, not getting Lily's point!

I don't want to speak on your behalf for you Lily (!) but this is just my view! It seemed to me that Lily wasn't saying herself that SHE, found it "unacceptable" to fancy so called "fat" people. She was saying in society, it may be seen as that. And as much as you may want to try and convince yourself that it's not true, unfortunately it is by a lot of people. I'm not gonna ramble on n on about media etc, but it's just the way it's portrayed. I used to be a bigger girl and would never have taken offence to what was said, it was simply an observation.

To me, Lily never expressed herself that it was her view.. she was talking generically about what MIGHT be (and often is) viewed that way. For example, Gordon Ramsey, Simon Cowell.. are often considered "weird crushes" in general. That's not to say there's anything wrong with them or that it's "wrong to fancy anyone over 30!"

I'm not "sucking up" either or just defending Lily for the sake of it. I wouldn't say these things if I truly didn't believe that you'd perceived it wrong and missed the whole point. It's really not a big issue, it were a small comment, which I think you've just taken wrongly. I don't think there was any need to attack Lily or her readers tho and suggest anyone who reads this blog thinks you can't have your own view.

(Sorry AGAIN for the ramble.. !) <3

  70. it's just ridiculous how you have to justify everything you say on here because people are too sensitive, you shouldn't worry whether people misconstrue the things you say, this is your blog, for your thoughts, ideas and opinions don't feel like you have to back up everything you want to say :)

  72. I am glad that you addressed this problem because this is your blog and you are entitled to write what you want! Some people are just take things the wrong way.

But anyways I love the black and white outfit! Gorgeous!

  75. Damn H&M and their amazingly versatile clothes! I love that this looks good tucked in etc. despite it originally being long (: I completely understand what you mean about the smallest of comments being taken out of context over the Internet. I've gotten so sick of it, particularly this past week. I'm not a particularly well known blogger at all, but I've been getting so much "hate" and comments/remarks ridiculing me over Formspring as well as personal emails(?!?!!!) lately that I'm disheartened to write at all! People need to lighten up! Hope you're feeling better about the whole situation, its nice to get it all off your chest sometimes! xxxx

PS. I totally need to see The Green Hornet still aha!

  76. omg that's so lame, it's a well known fact that seth rogan is bigger than the typical hollywooder, even seth twatting rogan knows it. it's not like everyone was walking around oblivious, then you whipped out your 'lily's book of diagnosis', realised he was fat, hunted him down then pointed and laughed at his belly until he cried. JEEEZ.

anyway, you hair looks super soft today, or yesterday for the purpose of when you'll read this comment.
that's if you even read it, like omgz, you never read your comments I FEEL SO INVISIBLE *storms off*

    aha what a strange comment.

    love, emma xx

  80. Seth Rogan is cute. Not to break your heart but he is engaged now. He seems like he would be such a sweet guy in real life.

  81. Haha I knew you would have to explain that Seth Rogan comment...i'm totally with you on the crush! Loving the skirt & top combo :)

    ReplyDelete
  82. Personally, I think people should get a sense of humour! And you should be able to post what you want to - it is your blog after all! There are lots of people who do get what you're saying and don't find it offensive so don't get disheartened...Seth Rogan is a hottie!

    ReplyDelete
  83. ugh, not superficial at all! what is wrong with people? get a sense of humour. i well fancy seth rogan and we should not be ashamed :P i think i even liked him when he was chubby. sad that you've lost your rosary, although at least it can be replaced easily :)

  85. people look better when they're healthier and slimmer - and he looks good! (thank you for bringing this to my attention haha)

as for it being superficial to comment on his looks - he's a celebrity...it's almost what they're there for. otherwise we wouldn't have so many trashy magazines dissecting the ins and outs of their lives. xoxo

    ReplyDelete
  86. you dont need to justify. people feel the need to be spiteful about everything you say because of the success of your blog, dont worry and dont feel at their mercy!

    love the tee and belt!

  87. Hi Lily,
Wouldn't let the negative feedback worry you. Everyone has the right to voice their opinion, and not everyone's going to agree with it and this applies to both you and the people who took it upon themselves to comment.

I really like your blog, but there are always going to be times that you'll say something and people may not agree. It happens with all people in the public eye, you can't please everyone. In this case, I disagree with the idea that it is unacceptable to fancy Seth Rogan because he's not thin or stereotypically "beautiful", but I completely understand that you didn't mean it like that and that you meant no offence by it. Forgive me if I'm wrong, but I got the impression that you meant it was different that you may like a guy who isn't generally in the public eye for being someone who is "fancied" by a lot of women and that people may find it unusual as it isn't something you hear often in the media. I think that it is unfair to launch an attack on you because of poor wording and you have handled yourself gracefully.

Reading through a few of your comments from this blog and the last, it's apparent that there is a lot more love for you than negative feedback, so just concentrate on that or you'll never be satisfied.

Reading back, this all seems rather pretentious so I'd like to add that I think your great and so do the majority of people reading this blog, so smile!

  88. Honey, people are ALWAYS going to misread what you write or say. In real life, you might want to defend yourself in the public space. But this is your own blog. That's like having to defend yourself in your own living room. That is bullshit. If I were you, I'd just ignore most negativity and if you REALLY feel the need to set the record straight, do so with a few short sentences, not with an entire post. It makes you come across as overly defensive and it will only attract more people jumping on that, because haters love defensive people to hate on a bit more.

Just say "I loved Seth when he was fat too, I just meant that he isn't an "odd crush" anymore so I can declare my love to the world without getting weird stares now!"

Try exuding positivity yourself, totally cuts the legs from under the negativists :)

    ReplyDelete
  89. I totally get what you say about Seth Rogan, it was kinda like he'd sold out by losing weight and so was just another guy. I do still love him though, hes got a charisma and cuteness thats unmatched by any young comedy actors at the mo, in my opinion anyway!

Love your blog btw! Would you ever consider removing the comments section? x

    ReplyDelete
  90. just remember you right for you, not for your "audience". and i totally started loving seth after he lost weight, just like a lot of people find me more attractive when im slimmer. its human nature to be attracted to people who look fit, healthy, and like they take care of themselves.

  91. you look STUNNING !!!

  97. i think its crazy how sensitive some people can be. taking what you said at face value (without even reading it thoroughly) and then reacting to it is, unfortunately, an effect of our generation's short attention span. and skimming the surfaces of things is, by definition, shallow and superficial. problem is, anything that is written online is almost sure to be misunderstood--same with text messaging and whatnot--it's hard to get across the proper tone/joke/sarcasm in a blog post. don't let them get to you!

    ReplyDelete
  98. Hey. What kind of shoes are you wearing with this outfit? Im going to england next week and im preparing some clothes for going out.

    ReplyDelete
  99. hahaha seth rogen is crush-able anyways whether he has the extra pounds or not. But truth is that he doeeees look better now. People have to learn how to respect other peoples opinions and thats that.
well love your striped shirt!!! and of course your amazing blog! will follow

  100. And all these ppl who attacks you in the moment you say something "bad" (not to mention if it wasn't even bad!!!! just a misunderstanding), don't understand the freedome of press.
I think it's your blog, you say whatever you want! And if someone doesn't like it, don't read it.
    Or learn to read :D
