For this makeup look, I pulled out MAC Face and Body as I couldn't find my usual lighter coverage foundation. I forgot how much I liked it, My skin is currently reacting to the weather and has done SO dry. This water based foundation is perfect though for evening out the skin tone without being too heavy duty. It looks a bit light in these photos, but I think that's just the lighting. I have a few spots and some really bad under eye circles so went heavy duty on the concealer rather than foundation. I am very much into just covering areas that need covering at the moment. To do this I used Kevyn Aucoin Sensual Skin Enhancer on a small detalling brush. This is the thickest foundation/concealer ever, a little goes a loooong way, but I cant fault the coverage it gives. It covers even the most angry of spots and the darkest of circles! I then used the Cargo HD Translucent Powder to matte down my skin and my favourite Guerlain Bronzer to sculpt the face. I highlighted my cheekbones with the Kevyn Aucoin Celestial Powder in By Candlelight. It's my absolutely favourite makeup item of the moment, such a natural, non shimmery highlighter. I adore how it brings loads of brightness and illumination to the skin without being glittery at all.
For the eyes, I did a simple wash of a classic MAC eyeshadow: MAC All That Glitters. A pretty gold shimmer with a lovely deluxe pearl finish. I think with red lips is important to do quite simple eyes, playing up two features can occasionally look a little much for daytime. As I want to focus to be the lips I just went with a slick of my usual Guerlain Eyeliner. I talk about this all the time as really easy to apply, and super glossy, it gives such a lovely luxe/glam finish. In the interest of testing out a new mascara I gave the Bare Minerals Lash Domination a whirl. My first thoughts are the brush is very odd, but it gives the lashes good shape, colour, volume and lift. The volume and the length was there and so far so good!
To finish it all off I used Urban Decay Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in Bang, A punchy bright orange red. I love how brightening it is to the skin, and I feel it really compliments the makeup and brings the whole look together. I feel like it's a really good everyday red lip colour as it's not too bright or too red if that makes sense. It's in your face without looking too over done. This look is a modern twist on the classic natural skin and bright matte lips.
