topshop lip stick in powder room: topshop (£7)
Here is another impulse purchase from Topshop Make up from last weekend, I have a feeling this colour might be a new addition to the core collection as I've never seen it before. The Topshop Lip stick in Powder Room is a lipstick in a pencil form. My initial reaction was that they are like the Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencils, a creamy matte finish which can lead to be slightly chalky. I think this is a fair comparison as they do feel very similar on the lips. The colour of this pencil is what attracted me the most, I don't as when I swatched it I knew what to expect. It's a shame that the formula won't suit everyone as the colour is beautiful and if it was more like a MAC Satin finish, or even the MAC Matte finishes it would be an amazing product. Powder Room is a pale yellow based pink with some light peachy tones going through it, although I'd say it was more of a soft but also bright baby pink. I think it might look different on other complexions, as Im quite warm toned and it seemed to pull out a lot peachier on my lips than it did on the swatch on my hand!
I wouldn't recommend this if you have dry lips, the formula is creamy but on the chalky side (which is a given with most matte lipsticks unfortunatly) therefore will cling to any dry patches. I don't even have dry lips and it feels a bit weird and can look chapped if I apply too much. It's a pretty colour and the packaging is nice, although will get filthy if you tossed it in your makeup bag! They retail for £7 which is average for a middle of the road drugstore lipstick I think, I think the price is about right for this product and I had no problems paying that for it. Bare in mind it won't be for everyone but I think its pretty and I'm sure I'll wear it a lot. It was the lipstick I wore to the Company Style awards too! I have bought another shade in this range called Clueless and Im tempted to get Coy (which I hear is a dupe for Bolero) and Hedonist. Such a sucker for a matte lip!
