top 5 eye shadows of 2011
Over the first week of January I'll be covering my top 5 products of the previous year. I'll be covering skincare, face, eye shadow, other eye products, lips, cheeks and nails! Feel free to recommend me your top 2011 products in the comments!
L-R Anticlockwise, MUA Heaven and Earth Palette*, Estee Lauder Double Wear Cream Eyeshadow in Pink Pearl*,
Chanel Illusions d'Ombre in Emmerveille*, MAC Paradisco, Vivo Peaches and Cream*
For me 2011 eye shadow wise has been dominated by pinks, I dont even know what really drew me to pink eyeshadow as I know alot of people steer clear of it. However, I just really like the way it looks on me! Going into S/S 2012 alot of cosmetic companies are doing pinky/goldy shadows which Im really looking forward to! I've worn alot of bronzey gold looks as well, opting for a lighter shade on the lid and then lining under the eye with a darker golden shadow. I also got quite into cream eye shadows as I'm super lazy when it comes to applying eyeshadow! The quicker the better in my books!
MUA Heaven and Earth Palette- (review here) One of the must have drug store products of 2011. MUA's affordable alternative to the Naked Pallete (over rated!) ticked all the boxes for me, In terms of having warm shimmery eye shadows that were pigmented, easy to blend and perfect for daily use. My favourite shades were the top right gold shade and the bottom third from left!
Estee Lauder Double Wear Cream Eyeshadow in Pink Pearl- My favourite eyeshadow base, but looks great worn alone. Quick and simple to apply and blend out! I like wearing it with MAC Honey lust layered over it to make a gorgeous rose gold shade. Lasts a long time on the eyes and doesn't crease.
Chanel Illusion d'Ombre in Emmerveille- (review here) Probably my all time favourite product of 2011, I even bought a backup just incase! Great for lazy days, long lasting, really flattering colour and just overall a great product. Probably my most worn eyeshadow of 2011 and I've only had it half a year!
MAC Eyeshadow in Paradisco- This is my second Paradisco as I rarely rebuy MAC shadows anymore but its one of my favorites. Its a little tricky to work with as the formula is quite stiff but gives off a pretty bright but still soft pink shimmery colour on the lid.
Vivo Baked Blush in Peaches and Cream- (review here) Designed to be a cheek product, but personally I LOVE using it on my eyes, I think it gives a warm bronzey pink look which really suits my skin tone.
Honorable Mentions: MAC Rubenesque Paint pot, MAC Gleam Eyeshadow, MAC Expensive Pink, MAC Melon Pigment, MAC Mythology and MAC By Candlelight MSF
