While nude lips is a classic shade and will always be classic and go to. This summer has been all about super saturated lip shades and making a fun beauty statement with your mouth. Although the punchy shades are right on trend they aren’t as apply and go as other lip shades. You want a cleaner, crisper look. With a bit of prep and a few tricks here’s my guide to pulling off the seasons brightest shades.
Make sure you keep your lips in tip top condition when opting for bolder shades. Using a good lip exfoliatior like Lush Mint Julips. It’s a sugar scrub with a menthol minty chocolate taste which gently sloughs off dead skin. Then apply a moisturising lip balm - I love anything by Lanolips. Lanolin is one of the best ingredients for repairing chapped or dry lips and a makeup bag staple.
Line ‘em Up
Lip liners are wonderful when worn under brighter shades. Apply in a matching due under the shade your using to lock in colour. Start at the cupids bow and then move around the lip. Try not to exaggerate your lip line too much as it can look a little fake. Slow and steady is the best way to line your lips. Take your time and define the shape.
Apply it Properly
After lining the lips use a lip brush rather than applying straight from the bullet. This way you have a more controlled way of applying colour to the lips. It stops lipstick bleeding and over application which can lead to it coming off on your teeth. Start by applying the shade to the centre of your lip and then sweep outwards, blending and creating shape. Finally press your lips together for the perfect bold pout.
