I bite my nails - I have done for as long as I can remember. I also have a nasty habit of picking the skin around my nails whenever I’m feeling nervous. I hate it, absolutely hate it. It’s one of those things where I wish I could stop but I just cant. I’ve tried and tried but nothing has helped. Today I thought I’d talk you through some methods that might work for you!
Acrylic nails and I have a love hate relationship. I love having them but hate that they make my nails weak. If you did want to use fake nails then I recommend press on’s as you can get some pretty good press on’s these days. Opt for the sticky tabbed backed ones rather than glue on ones so that the nail isn’t being damaged.
I’ve had one gel manicure before and I really liked it. It did stop me nibbling my nails but they were incredibly tempting to pick off once they started to grow out. Gel manicures keep the nails strong, hard and perfect looking. They can be pretty pricey too but they do look so good.
Nasty Nail Polish
I remember my mum dipping my fingers in those god-awful tasting pots that make your nails taste horrible. These days you can get special nail polishes that have that horrible taste. Every time you go to nibble a nail you’ll be presented with that disgusting bitter taste.
Tell yourself No
Try to stop for a second before biting your nails and think about what you are doing. Identify the triggers that are causing you to bite your nails. Pay attention to the things that make you want to bite your nails and try and avoid them as much as you can. Once you figure out whats causing it then it’s a starting point to start dealing with it.
While I feel like it’s impossible to quit I hope that at least one person might be helped with the methods that I’ve tried over the years!
