how to make your eyes look bigger

If you have small eyes and want to make them pop then its super easy to fix with a few points in the right direction. Sometimes we gotta thank makeup for being able to get our peepers popping!

De Puff

Puffy eyes are just not cute. Try some under eye de-puffing treatments to help your eyes look their best. I absolutely love the Liz Earle Eye Brightening Tonic, it’s cooling and soothing on dry, stressed out skin areas. To be honest - anything you have lying around thats cooling will do. You could even use a cold spoon or cool camomile teabags. Anything that takes the puff out of tired eyes is a winner.

Up your brow game

Brows are my thing. I’ve wrote a ton of posts recently on eyebrows and how to make the most of your eyebrows (here, here & here) Groomed arched eyebrows frame the face and open up your peepers giving the illusion of bigger eyes. Make sure you fill them in so they are neat and tidy with a clean, defined shape. I recommend the Sleek Eyebrow Stylist - a waxy pencil which defines the eye brows without feeling too harsh. Great for giving a natural but sharp finish.

Curl it Girl!

Everybody should own a pair of lash curlers. I got throughout phases of using them and then not using them, but taking that extra 20 seconds to curl your lashes makes a world of difference. It really opens up your eye area and makes a huge difference. I love the Shisedo Eyelash Curlers ones - there is something about them that other lash curlers just don’t have.

Mascara, Mascara, Mascara

An obvious one but lengthening mascaras like on the top and bottom lashes creates a doll doe eyed look. Apply the mascara in a up and outwards motion to really make the most of enhancing eye shapes and giving a wider eye look. My pick of lengthening mascaras has to be YSL BabyDoll Mascara, it's perfect for defining every single lash, holding a curl (see previous step) and making eyes look wider.

Tightline / Waterline

Tightlines are terrifying - its something I still haven’t quite mastered. To enhance your lashes and frame your eyes, apply a black eyeliner under the top lash line to fake fuller lashes. In contrast to doing the tight line, opt for a lighter colour in the waterline. A flesh toned pencil will open the eyes and brighten them. Steer clear of whites in the waterline as it can look really harsh and unflattering. I really like the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Kohl Eyeliner in Nude and Black - Super creamy and last all day on the eyes.
