I remember when I was at the press event for the Illamasqua Glamore collection that I managed to squeeze out some info from Alex Box on the Skin Base Mixers. Illamasqua are taking the trend for colour correcting foundation shades to the next level. Skin Base Mixers are the brand new fixer for the foundation shade that's just not quite right.  They adapt to conceal blemishes, correct skin tone, brighten the complexion, even out hyper pigmentation and even deepen foundation to suit darker skin tones. They are also really handy if you want to adapt your base for different seasons. The Ilamasqua Skin Base Mixers come in four shades to choose from and each shade has a specific colour correcting purpose:

Illamasqua Skin Base Mixer in White - Lifts skin tone and adds brightness
Illamasqua Skin Base Mixer in Amber - Even out olive skin tones
Illamasqua Skin Base Mixer in Terracotta - Blur out unwanted hyper pigmentation
Illamasqua Skin Base Mixer in Chestnut - Add further depth or for contouring

The formula is very similar to the Skin Base but much more pigmented. I used Amber mixed in with my Skin Base (it's very pale and slightly too pink!) and it really warmed up the foundation and added much needed yellow tones to compliment my skin. It also worked really well at hiding the red blemishes I have on my cheeks from a naughty breakout. Illamasqua say you can use all the shades to help contour the face too, apply the desired shade on the points of your face you want to add colour to and then blend your foundation over.

These come free with a purchase of the Skin Base foundation from the 8th May and you'll be matched by the professionals on counter according to your needs. I don't think they are going to be rolling it out as stand alone products but I'll keep you updated if they do. I reviewed the Skin Base a long time ago, in fact I think it was one of the first reviews I ever did on this blog. I still really like it, its good build-able coverage and has no SPF so is great for nights out.
