Momo is a little Moroccan place tucked away off Regent Street. The atmosphere is relaxed but with a slight buzz. The vibe is an electic mix - some people outside having shish and then some having a relaxed mid week dinner. I liked the interior, it was dark and mysterious but without feeling threatening or intimating. Staff were pleasant and casual - exactly what I like in a restaurant. There's nothing worse than uptight staff. There is a cafe, terrace, dining and basement bar so there is something to suit everyones taste and night out.
So obviously you want to know about the food. As a n00b, I didn’t really know what to expect, all I know if something tastes good or not... and DAYMMMN it was good. To begin we all shared some starters including a wonderful chickpea salad with feta and caramelised onions, which I could have easily scoffed the lot of! For mains I opted for Lamb Tagine - as that’s what the rest of the girls had and I was the Moroccan virgin! Now, this was really something else! I don’t really like lamb... well I do. I just think it’s one of those things that is awkward to cook so never bother. It blew me away, it was melt in the mouth soft & expertly spiced. I couldn't finish the whole portion as I was so full! The couscous was fluffier than I’ve ever tasted, it literally melted in the mouth and was so dreamy. I’ve always found couscous a bit… nothing but this was seriously yummy. It soaked up all the flavour of the Tagine and was the perfect accompaniment to the fragrant Tagine. We also had a few cocktails, I had a Momo Special which was their take on a Mojito. I had two I enjoyed them that much!
In all I really liked Momo, despite it not the type of place I’d usually go to. I’m 100% a steak or burger person (Like most Londoners these days!), but it’s really opened my eyes up to the world of food styles available in London and makes me want to try more places out.
