ben nye banana powder

ben nye banana powder review swatch photo
Ben Nye Banana Powder is a yellow loose  powder that can be used to highlight areas and conceal areas that need yellowness to counteract darker tones. It rocketed to fame when Kim Kardashian famously posted a picture of herself with the powder packed on her face. The powder itself is really finely milled and super soft to the touch, it blends effortlessly into the skin and looks incredibly natural. I find it doesn't cake or enhance areas of my skin that are dry or oily. The Banana powder looks smooth and silky on the skin with a natural satin finish. The finish photographs really well as too ie. no ashyness, a pretty soft focus and doesn't bounce back flash. I can see why Kim swears by it for photos. I do think this sort of product probably be more suited to darker and medium and yellow toned skin rather than super pale gals as the yellow might be too obvious. I did find that when applied the yellow tones blended out to a translucent finish it does have a slight warm cast which might not work for everyone. The main thing I liked was that it doesn't look ashy on my skin at all which is a problem with some powders I've tried in the past. The biggest downside is the crappy packaging of this product as it's really awkward to use, I might decant it into a larger loose powder jar for ease of use. I personally find the best way to use it is under my eyes as a setting powder for my concealer. To do this I would use Real Techniques Setting brush and pat it on the areas I need it. Sometimes I use a large powder brush and buff it all over my face.

Overall I think it's a really great setting powder. It does brighten my face and set my makeup well. While I don't think it does anything outstanding and sadly it doesn't make my face as sculpted and highlighted as Kim Kardashians. I do really like it and feel it's something I will get a fair bit of use on from now on. The main thing about this is that it is really cheap, I didn't expect it to be as reasonably priced as it was! £8.15 for 1.5oz of product is outstanding! The pot will last so long as you really don't need a huge ammount either!
