First up is the H&M A/W Preview. I've never been to a H&M press day so I was pretty chuffed to be invited along this season. H&M has always been one of my favourite places to shop, especially in the winter as they always have lovely coats and jumpers. I've said it before, but I love Autumn Winter! Summer clothes just don't excite me in the same way as planning the perfect winter wardrobe. I love the texture and knits and anything you need to layer up with!
According to H&M this A/W is all about "Minimalism and Maximalism". There is a big focus on separates in the collection which gives the whole thing a very mix and match feel to it. The silhouettes are sculptural, both sleek and bold. The colours are a mix of sleek black and cool grey's, paired with autumnal browns and bursts of coloured prints and patterns. Add in metallic's for a futurist industrial feel. There are so many fabrics to choose from including woollen jersey, cotton poplin, velvet, slim mohair, leather, herringbone tweed and boucle.
I love how the sleek and minimal pieces feel fresh and modern. With all the textures and shapes adding an extra "pow". I loved the feeling of mixing textures and having fun with different types of material. It felt very classic but very new and unique at the same time. The shapes and cuts of the items were just effortlessly perfect. The idea of "Maximalism" really stood out to me. The embellished pieces really made outfits pop. I'm not one for going OTT but I actually really liked how by pairing them with the minimalistic items it made an outfit look interesting but not over done. Totally something I want to look into more in the upcoming Autumn Winter season!
All the items are NOT in store yet as this is the Autumn Winter 2012 preview, Some items might not make it into the store as all items photographed are samples. I presume things will start rolling out from the end of August
