L'Oreal Rouge Caresse in Dating Coral: Boots/Superdrug (£7.99)

Around the same time the Revlon Lip Butter hype came out L'Oreal somewhat quietly released their own answer to the hybrid lipstick trend releasing the Rouge Caresse's. Although I did like the Revlon Lip Butters, there was something about them that I didn't like at the same time. L'Oreal Rouge Caresse's feel very light weight, smooth and pigmented. They are a mix of lip balm and lipstick with quite alot of colour but still very sheer. Rouge Caresse's however very build-able so you can get different coverage depending on how much of the product you I apply. The formula actually reminds me of MAC Glaze's, very slippy and glossy but still giving even coverage. They aren't particularly long wearing because they are very balmy, but they are fool proof when applying so you don't need to worry about being precise on reapplication.

Dating Coral is a warm coral with soft orange undertones. In the bullet it looks very reddish coral, but on application it is more orange. I think it looks very pretty on the lips, with one swipe I found it to be too sheer for my pigmented lips. I found I did have to apply it a fair few times to get the colour in the photographs. However it doesn't feel sticky or tacky and the product doesn't build up uncomfortably on the lips.

Personally I prefer these to the Revlon Lip Butters, I don't know why I like these more though. Maybe I just prefer the shades I have in the Rouge Caresses's to the Lip Butters. I do think the products are very similar but I just find the L'Oreal Rouge Caresse's to be more pigmented, more moisturising and have better overall pay off. Im surprised I like these sheerer glossier products at the moment as I've always been a full coverage matte or satin finish kinda girl!
