glossy box december 2011
Cargo Cosmetics Classic Lipgloss in Morrocco, Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle Mini Nail Varnish and Stripped to Go Nail Sachet, FAB Face Cleanser, Nouveau Lashes Noir Mascara, Rituals foaming Shower Gel in Yogi Flow via Glossy Box*
Everyones favourite/least favourite time of the month! Beauty box time! I recieved my Glossy Box on Friday so I had the weekend to try out the products. What I think is nice about getting it early is it means I can give some opinions on the products themselves (plus, who doesn't like spoilers?), rather than just join the race to see who can post their contents first. Plus I think it might help people who once they get their boxes and are a bit unsure of the products or brands. First off, I adore the red box packaging, way more than the pink boxes they normally do, I like pink, but not really the pink of a Glossy Box!
I'm very happy with my box this month. I like that can get use out of everything, which is always the first thing I look at when I get these boxes. I adore the Deborah Lippmann Razzle Dazzle nail varnish, I wore it on the day I got it! Its a gorgeous darkened blackish pink shade packed full of glitter! Deborah Lippmann has quite a big following in the states on nail blogs and I'd been pining after trying their glitters for a while! Plus I dont own any shades similar either so it was perfect. The Rituals Foaming Shower gel is to DIE for. The smell is perfect for me! Such a lovely scent of Indian Rose and Sweet almond oil, really floral and lingers on the skin a bit. I love how its foaming too, makes it feel quite luxurious.
I kinda expected the Nouveau Mascara to be crap (basically I typically think all mascaras that arent Max Factor False Lash Effect are rubbish) but its actually a surprisingly good mascara. The formula is good, its very black, glossy, lengthening and doesn't clump. Also the brush is stiff and slim, which makes perfect size for bottom lashes. The Cargo Lip gloss isnt my colour, as its the same shade as my lip colour, However the formula isnt sticky or gloopy and the glitter is very fine so you cant feel it on your lips. Haven't tried the FAB cleanser yet as Im trying out another one for review at the moment, but the packaging is really nicely designed and is very appealing to me.
As usual I'm sure people will be expecting a full size Chanel foundation matched to their colour, some Creme de la Mer face cream and a MAC 15 pan palette but... Im joking, But I personally think the brands included this month are what I feel "should be expected" from these boxes. They are all luxury or department store brands, not necessarily premium (eg: Chanel, Nars, YSL) but high end. These are the types of products I think would work well in these sorts of boxes, middle of the road type quality brands.
I know some boxes have different contents this month as I know Emma has two different items to me, one that I probably would have preferred. But I have paid for and ordered another box for stocking fillers, so I'll have to see what comes when I get my paid for boxes! That is the luck of the draw with these boxes. I do think once they implement the Beauty Profiles on the Glossy Box website it may help people get items they'd prefer. But there is no way to please everyone unfortunately! I know there is a Facebook page that helps people swap unwanted sample box items, which might be worth checking out!
I'm very happy with Glossy Boxes Christmas offerings! Looking forward to seeing what the other beauty boxes, and the newly married Jolie Box (formerly Boudoir Prive) comes up with!
PS. I don't know if people have noticed, but Glossy Box take subscriptions for that months box for a week or two after that months box comes out. So if your worried about subscribing and getting "crap" boxes, you could in theory wait for the box to come out, see if the contents are to your liking and order it, then cancel and repeat each month... just saying!
