Oh Route 66. It was the big highway that runs from one side of the country to the other (ish) and THE way to get anywhere really! All along the route were these kitsch hippie towns and quickly became a icon of American Culture. When interstates were bought into the USA the road fell out of favour more and more and eventually they crumbled and became a weird sort of ghost road of the past. While a lot of the road is out of action these days there are lots of stops along the way that are full of the Americana spirit of the time though and it's actually a pretty cool visual.

We stopped off at Delgadillo's Snow Cap Drive-In, which is still a popular tourist stop. Delgadillo was working on an extremely limited budget, so he built the restaurant mostly from scrap. At this stop there was a bunch of Cars inspired by the Disney/Pixar film with eyes on. It was really cool actually. So quirky, funny and you kept finding little things to make you giggle.

This was a really quickly stop but something I thought deserved it's whole post. The photos really speak for themselves really. It was like going back to the 50's and having big ol' slice of Americana!
