how to wear leopard print

river island coat

It's been a print of choice for me ever since the emo days, but one that I think is still hard to style. A little goes a long way with the fur inspired look. I like to keep the flashes of print minimal, but with maximum impact. For an edgier look I've paired a simple leather pleated with a furry leopard jumper from River Island. Before you wince at the fact I'm wearing both leather and leopard print I styled it down it down with a big oversized camel trench coat. This way it doesn't look as garish or in your face. A ladylike bag in the form of my & Other Stories shopper and it's the perfect take on the modern mod look. A little nod to the 60's without looking like Bet Lynch!

New for Fall 2014 are a range of YSL Rouge Pur Couture Mats. A trio of matte lipsticks part of the leather themed Fall range Cuirs Fétiches Collection this flesh toned nude pink lipstick. Butter soft with a matte but not too matte finish - sort of like a suede finish. #210 Nude Acoustic would be universally flattering and the texture really makes the lips look fuller. It feels modern and retro in equal parts. I totally dig the 90's matte, almost brown nudes on the lips at the moment and this is rocking my world. Totally that Kylie Jenner vibe.

whats in my bag 2014
whats in my autumn bag
& other stories bag

Getting back into the Youtube swing of things I decided to go back to the original Youtube Tag and do the Whats in My Bag Tag. It's also an excuse to show off my brand new & Other Stories purse that has barely left the crook of my arm since I purchased it a few weeks ago. It just simply goes with every single thing I own.

It's a flap bag with a bit of a twist as it has an unusual cut out square front flap. It means that I can pop stuff in the outer pocket without having to open the whole bag. Very handy for popping my oyster card and debit card in! It's just the right size to tote around all my daily junk (see video for those deets) with room for a few extras that I chuck in.

Head over to my channel for all the relevant links and bits and bobs (while you're there fancy giving it a thumbs up?) And remember to subscribe if you havent already! Let me know if there are any other videos you'd like to see with me in over the next few weeks and I'll see what I can do!

my LFW makeup diary

my makeup diary

Is Fashion week is old news now? I don’t think its over till Fashion Month officially ends! Still a few days, so Yeap I can still talk about it!

Over London Fashion Week I was working with Maybelline as one of their few backstage bloggers. As official London Fashion Week sponsors, they were doing the makeup on a ton of shows! It was a super exciting experience to see things from a totally different angle. I’ve done backstage before at LFW, but this season was a little different as I had my friends Ray and Seb on hand to capture some beautiful footage of our experience. That’s going live in a few days, but until now here is a video that I made showing all my makeup that I wore over my time at London Fashion Week! Let me know if you’d like to see more “My Makeup Diary” style videos as I love how it’s come together!

how to move on with your life

moving on
how to move on in your life

Moving on with things is easier said than done. I think moving on in life comes in stages and over time gets easier, but you do have to make those positive steps towards moving forward. You can’t stay sad about that guy anymore, you can't stay knocked back from not getting your dream job and you can’t keep stressing out over a toxic friendship forever can you?

Step back & Breathe
Breathe. Take a big deep breath and relax. It’s one of the simplest ways to move on. Take a step back and just relax your mind. Taking some time to clear your head is the most important things to help you This could take a few minutes or a few hours to a few days - whatever it takes. Take as long as you need. There's no rush is there?

Let it Go
Delete all those messages, emails and photos that are holding your back. Let go of all the memories that are making you dwell on your negative past. Don’t hold on to things that could potentially make you sad because it can trigger old feelings you want to move away from. The main thing is you need to keep going and stop looking back at the past. You are the most important thing in your life and you have the ability to remove anything that’s unwanted from your mind.

Acception
Accept your past. Accept your mistakes. Accept the pain. Remind yourself things are going to be okay and you are strong enough to get through this. Realising that everything happens for a reason and you can't change the past is a really strong war to help you move on. Life isn’t always under our control, just acknowledge it happened and there is nothing you can do about it.

Try Something new
Break out of your day to day routine and find something new to enjoy. Find something new that inspires you or makes you feel like you. Pursue something you’ve never done before and explore places you’ve never been. I promise you the best way to move on is to distract yourself and put yourself in new situations. You might shock yourself how well you adapt to new situations.

Live your life
Life is way too short to dwell on the negatives. Live every moment like it’s your last and do whatever makes YOU happy. You don’t have to go crazy and go off the rails just do the little things that make you feel better. Enjoy time with people you love rather than thinking about what happened before.

It’s taken me over a year to get over an upsetting situation and I did have those helpless moments where I was telling myself I’d never meet someone new and I’d never be happy. But now I’ve moved on and I’ve never been happier. The key to moving on is letting it take time. You aren’t going to wake up tomorrow and your whole attitude on life is going to change. You just have to commit to actually letting yourself move forward. Take those steps forward and begin the journey to improving your own life. I hope this has helped you consider a few things and make you think “yeah, this makes sense" How will you move forward today?

A surprising September shoe

new look white patent chunky cut out sandals

Admittedly, right now I can’t stop buying shoes. Shoes never really tickled my fancy until this year when I became obsessed with the wonderful things. I’ve gone from having the most slimline shoedrobe ever to something that rivals Kim K. Well maybe not that much!

The latest addition to the lineup are these oh so cute white patent Mary Janes. New Look shoes are on point. They have one of the best selections of on trend shoes on the highstreet. Affordable, stylish and have something to suit everyone. These darling little shoes came in at a purse friendly £25 and I’ve barely taken them of my feet. Boots are great n’all but sometimes I crave a girlier, daintier shoe. Mannish shoes are all the rage right now but there is something classic and timeless about these. I del the 60’s/70’s vibe with a touch of rock n roll mod to them.

While cut out T bar sandals might not the the first choice when it comes to autumnal footwear they have slid right into place within my September wardrobe. They are a nice bridge between the summer sandal and the winter boot. Oh andiIf white isn’t your thing then they also come in black and burgundy (I may have to purchase the latter).

two mascara repurchases

Recently I found myself without a mascara that I really liked. I mean I have a lot of mascara, but none that really rocked my world. I toddled off to Boots to repurchase my favourite drugstore mascara Bourjois Twist Up the Volume Mascara. It’s one of those sort of gimmicky mascaras that twist up to add volume and twist down to give length. Not that I notice a difference between the two settings, but the mascara is damn good. However, I was of course distracted by the counter of dreams - Chanel. I remembered how much I loved the Chanel Les Volumes de Chanel mascara, but for some reason I never blogged about it.

Both mascaras work a treat at giving that much desired “doll” eyed look. Super volumisied to the sky lashes. Although vastly different in the price range I love them both. One’s perfect for a treat and the other is a great everyday mascara.

the perfect autumn outfit

The thing I like most about this coat is that it’s so light weight. Ideal for cooler mornings and just right for the evenings. It's the perfect throw on and go coat. Fuss free and compliments so many different outfits. A high fashion feel to it without the huge price tag. Pair it with a pair of brouges for a menswear inspired look or with a pair of pointed courts for a girlier touch

For this look, I kept it simple with skinny black jeans - Topshop Jamie’s of course - a crisp white shirt and a fedora. Paired with my pony skin booties this look is just spot on for October. I'm all about keeping things light as it comes in autumn. Dual textures add an extra edge to a fall look, with a few different tones thrown in just to add some fun!

Tiniest Lipstick Ever!

Hourglass Liquid Lipstick in Canvas review swatch photoHourglass Liquid Lipstick in Canvas review swatch photo

Oh my god. How cute is this mini Hourglass Liquid Lipstick in Canvas! I picked this up when I was in the States as I was checking out. It was just too cute to resist! I already own the Hourglass Liquid Lipstick in Riviera and it’s one of my favourite shades and finishes of lipstick I own. The Liquid Lipsticks from Hourglass are richly pigmented, silky smooth and provide long lasting matte colour that doesn’t flake or dry. Canvas is a stunning soft rose beige which looks really natural, but brightening at the same time. I haven’t seen these in the UK, but I picked it up for $10 in Sephora in their “Beauty to Go” section. JUST LOOK HOW SMALL IT IS!

backpack to school

Tuesday, September 23, 2014

uk fashion blogger

So I’m not heading back to school anytime soon. Seriously done with that. I left school almost 9 years ago now and it's crazy to think back that far. None the less the style staple for those that way inclined is definitely a backpack. It’s become a Cool Girl staple over the last few years and have gone from being pretty ugly to perfectly on trend.

As I have recently been converted to the hands free side and I’m not looking back. My Urban Outfitters one is real leather, super soft and so hard wearing. I’ve taken it across the country, travelling, to festivals and stuffed it with goodness knows what. Having the freedom to check everything in a bag and get on with life is the one.

Heres a shoppable selection of my favourite backpacks on the market right now. Forget getting a sporty style one (unless you dig that, then cool cool!) and pick something a little more refined and on trend.

FOTD: Pink Pairing

tarte amazonian clay full coverage foundation, laura mericer mineral powder,  NYX blush in angel, eylure 114 eyelashes, illamasqua brow cake in thnder*, smashbox full exxposure palette, kat von d tattoo eyeliner, barry m loud mouth in screamer

I thought I'd do a little FOTD and show you two of my current makeup bag favourites. The NYX Blush in Angel and the Barry M Loud Mouth in Screamer. Two matchy matchy pinky peach shades which work so well as a lip/blush duo.

Barry M Loud Mouth in Screamer has been in my possession for ages, but I hadn't tried it. It's a sort of OCC Lip Tar style liquid lipstick that really coats the lips for a decent coverage. It reminds me of a Barry M lip gloss that I used to wear daily when I was younger. NYX Blush in Angel is a peachy pink blush which adds just the right amount of pink to my skin to warm it up and add a subtle flush. It's really soft which I adore. Lovely flirty shade!

So I'm off to New York... again! I'm flying at 11am  so probably as this post goes live I'll probably be there already! I did actually go to New York earlier in the month, but I didn't really do much as it was more of a "work" trip than pleasure. In fact, I didn't even get enough pictures from the trip to even really talk about it in much detail on my blog! None the less is a selection of my favourite images I've gathered from Tumblr, Pintrest and Instagram of the stunning city New York over the past month or so.

This time I'm off on a holiday for the most part, but the first day I'm doing a photoshoot as part of my role as a DKNY Core Girl. If you didn't know I'm one of their fragrance ambassadors! I've already talked about the My NY fragrance over on my beauty blog already, but the photo shoot is basically to promote that! Playing with the idea of My London / My New York!

After this  I'm going on holiday with my pal Stu for a week. Very exciting times. I've got a list of places I want to go, but if you have any suggestions please leave them in the comments!
