ORGANIC SURGE 2 MINUTE MOISTURE review swatch photo

Gotta admit I was super skeptical about a mask making a difference to my uber dry and damaged hair - especially one that claims to work in just two minute. None the less after my first use of the Organic Surge 2 Minute Moisture Mask all my skepticism had gone. A few teaspoons of the product run through the ends of my hair in the shower. Oh my goodness oh my goodness. It smells dreamy, makes my hair look soft, shiney and manageable. Never did I ever think I'd see such a big change in my hair in such a short amount of time - I cant believe it takes just two minutes to get to work. Ultimate lazy girl hair mask! It's also totally cruelty free, 97.5% natural, no chemicals and silicone free and retails for just £6.99.

The newest addition to the Donna Karan DKNY fragrance range there is a new heart-shaped edition being added to the line up. This one aims to show the urban spirit of the iconic city. With a campaign fronted by Rita Ora the newest fragrance is a fresh and youthful and captures the city perfectly. Top notes of the fragrance boast a blend of raspberry, pink pepper and galbanum, with by Egyptian jasmine, freesia and orris at the heart. Finally going into a base composition of patchouli Heart LMR, vanilla absolute and musk. The packaging is super cute - made of glass and metal of which the upper part creates a heart shape and New York skyscrapers.

DKNY My NY is beautiful, soft and musky with a little woody undertone. It's sweet, modern and chic but really clean and wearable. It screams modern women and really makes me think about NYC.

To coincide with the launch of the newest DKNY My NY Fragrance comes a little announcement from me. I've been picked as the UK DKNY Core Girl" - A fragrance ambassador for DKNY! We've done this awesome shoot which should be going live over on my other blog in the near future and Im going on my first trip to New York to experience MY NY for myself.

a wash on SPF?

lush The Sunblock review swatch photo

When this came to my house a few days I was like… "really, thats different"? The Sunblock from Lush is the first ever solid sunscreen wash that I’ve ever come across on my beauty quests. Showering on sun protection is a new one to me. The bar contains Zinc Oxide which is used as a natural sunscreen. The bar itself is super soft and so creamy, packed full of lovely cocoa butter which would melt wonderfully in the skin. Even within the packaging in this hot weather it's slightly melting You’re supposed to use 1/3 of a bar to protect your whole body, which means you are only going to get three applications out of this bar - so not the best value for money. Apply in the shower to damp skin and rinse off.

To be honest Im pretty skeptical but I will give it a go as soon as my current hellish fever state has stopped me from going outside. It doesn’t give me any indication of if I need to reapply it during the day or not either. The blurb on the product sort of thinly implies you should use a “synthetic sunscreen” to compliment this though which doesn’t fill me with hope. Will keep you updated on this but I just wanted to share a new and unique product!

COLLECTION LITTLE MIX ALL ABOUT THE EYES PALETTE review swatch photo

Browsing through my to review pile I came across this - the Little Mix All about the Eyes Palette. It's a standard smokey eye kit which has a bunch of neutral shades to create the perfect day to night look. Shimmery, butter soft and pretty good quality considering the price point. A swipe of eye primer and a different brush to apply (I recommend the MAC 217) and you've got a decent, cheap and cheerful almost Naked Palette.

The other items from the Collection Little Mix drop are pretty naff though, just really basic flavoured lip balms with the members names on it. Pass. Definitely one thats designed just for the fans. None the less the All About Eyes Palette is pretty darn good and really wearable. Oh and the price you ask... £3.19. Launches today.

While on a recent shop the stash mission I was rummaging through my MAC Lipsticks and came across MAC Sushi Kiss. Sushi Kiss came out last year with the All About Orange collection and it was an immediate sell out. I do kinda feel bad talking about it considering it there is no way to get your paws on it anymore but JUST LOOK AT IT. it' the perfect super creamy medium weight satin finish peachy pink. I always forget how much I like Mac lipsticks until I pull one out and fall back in love with them! Will have a look if I can find some dupes of this but damn. It's perfect.

Rimmel Sunshimmer Instant Tan 9-in-1 BB Skin Perfector in Light Matte review swatch photo

Now I don’t know about you but I’m sick to death of BB. It felt like the marketing beauty word on everyones lips was BB last year. BB has gone beyond your basic BB cream to BB lips, eyes and god knows what else. None the less I’ve been recently trialling the Rimmel Sunshimmer Instant Tan 9-in-1 BB Skin Perfector in Light Matte after a tip of from Anna. And it gets a big BB thumbs up fro me.

I didn’t actually expect to like this as much as I do - Me and Rimmel Sun Shimmer have a rocky relationship but this is is much better. It gives my legs a flawless glow with minimal effort. It evens the skin tones, covers, protects and lasts all night with no bleeding. I feel like Light Matte is a touch orange but I personally quite like that tone in my fake tan but thats something to consider if your considering purchasing it. It also comes in a medium which is a little too dark for me! I really enjoy this product... much more than I thought I would!

The Summer Beauty IT List

Summer Beauty must haves
Summer Beauty IT List

The beauty industry changes constantly. Things like trends in products, a celeb endorsement of a product or a look on the catwalk . Keeping up with it all is pretty darn hard. Products sell out all the time but I thought today I’d give you a heads up of what products are looking really popular this summer!

Creamy Cheek Highlighter

That dewy, lit from within look always trends in the summer and this time it’s in the form of more creamy highlighters. While powders are all fine and dandy - switching it up for a soft glow-y stick of highlighter will give a more natural look. TRY: Topshop Glow Stick

Blur Cream

Blur creams are trending this summer as the “miracle worker” to make your skin look flawless. Think IRL photoshop. While that might not be the case Blur creams are set to take the beauty world by storm. They soften the look of pores, fine lines and imperfections. TRY: Benefit Porefessional

Gel Nails

Gel nails have been a slow burner in the beauty world but as the sun’s out and the sandals are coming on people are opting for more and more gel inspired nail polishes. Long-lasting and super shiny - gel look nails are perfect for holidays and extended breaks. If you can’t be bothered to go to a salon to go through the curing in salon mani try some gel inspired finished nail polish from the drugstore. TRY: Barry M Gelly Hi-Shine Nail polish

Orange Lips

Im sure you’re all sick to death about how much orange lips are trending this Summer but heap - orange is the shade to be been in. Matte oranges, creamy corals and punchy off reds. Add one to your summer makeup bag and you won’t regret it.  TRY: Topshop Hedonist Lip Crayon

Summer Hair twosome

summer hair inspiration

summer hair must haves

Summer hair is tricky to get right. I think we'd all like dreamy beachy waves with just the right amount of grit to polish. However lets face it, most of us end up like sweaty messes 5 minutes after leaving the house and our hair goes from fab to drab in seconds. My two summer hair must haves are a sea salt spray and a dry shampoo. One to refresh the hair and the other to add some summer texture.

Sea salt spray is great for adding texture and grit to the hair. I love using this by the pool, on the beach or festivals. It gives that roughed up surf hair look with minimal effort. Scrunch a generous amount into damp hair and leave to air dry for a the perfect summer ready look. I really like the Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray - it is as good as everyone says it is. It feels like it has the perfect ratio of salt to spritz so my hair doesnt feel crispy and dry. The only dry shampoo worth buying is the Batiste one, I especially like the tropical one purely because it smells damn good. My hair always gets greasier when the suns out and now Im a firm member of the fringe club I like to give me hair a good going over with dry shampoo to remove any excess oils. It's perfect at refreshing the hair and a summer handbag must have!

Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Polish in Olive review swatch photo

You know when you paint your nails and then you realise the colour isn’t right at all? Thats what happened to me when I decided to put on this Barry M Gelly Hi Shine Nail Polish in Olive. Its a weird pale sage green that just does nothing for my already olive skintone. Formula wise it's really nice, glossy, easy to apply and quick drying but... yeah pass on the colour!

going back to blush

Illamasqua Velvet Cream Blush in Flirtatious review swatch photo

Illamasqua Velvet Blush in Flirtatious

I gave up on blush sometime last year but I've been craving a little colour on my cheeks for a while recently. I just felt like I was missing something. Rummaging around my stash I found the Illamasqua Velvet Cream Blush in Flirtatious., It's a strange texture thats creamy but has a powder finish. Applied on the apples of the cheeks Flirtatious brightens the face and brings some much needed colour to my look. Although I find it a bit hard to apply, it's very stiff as it's not very creamy so I have to sort of scrap the surface to get colour. But I really like the subtle pop of peachy pink!

5 Festival Beauty Tips

festival makeup tips

festival makeup tips

Give in to Wipes

Seriously. How often is it drilled  into us that “wipes are no good” for our skin. I think bloggers are partly responsible for this - because all my IRL friends use them without a care in the world. None the less when it comes to festival beauty there is nothing like ‘em. From waking up in a pool of sweat to stumling in bleary eyed. Wipes are multi purpose and a must for a festival beauty bag. I bought ones for my face as well as ones for my body and everything else. I really like the Yes to Carrots wipes - they do a good job at cleansing the skin  and removing makeup

Don’t bring your best makeup

My favourite Illamasqua Lip pigment only went and melted in the sun didn’t it. I was gutted. It’s my favourite product of all time and it was just a sloppy goopy mess after a hour in my backpack. When you go to a festival don’t pack all your expensive favourite makeup items. Go for your more budget friendly options within your beauty collection. Pick items that are replaceable or not your favourite but still do the job. You don’t want to go losing your favourite Tom Ford shadow or that beautiful Charlotte Tilbury lippie do you!

Bring Glitter

I think it’s always fun to bring glitter to a festival. You’ll be surprised how many people will see you with it on and ask you to try some for themselves. I took a pot of the Urban Decay Heavy Metal Loose Glitter and the Urban Decay Bondage and had a line of boys all wanting a coating of the shimmery stuff at our tent door. Apply it to the tops of your cheek bones for an 80’s glam rock throwback or on the lids for a new rave sparkle Don’t forget neon paints too, they are always a crowd pleaser!

ALWAYS BRING SPF. SERIOUSLY.

Body, Lip and Face. Me and Dal made the mistake of only bringing body SPF on our recent festival jaunt to Germany and we were left with chapped lips and burnt noses. I’ve been raving about the Benefit Dream Screen for ages but it’s one of the best facial SPF’s I’ve ever tried. It keeps oiliness at bay without skimping on protection. Bring a stick o’ lipbalm to keep your lips protected too!

Wear makeup if you want to

If you want to wear makeup at a festival then do it. Don’t feel peer pressed into bare facing it if you don’t want to. Some people just feel comfortable without some sort of makeup on! Just because wearing makeup at festivals is “frowned” on my the more “hardcore” festivaller might look down on you for making an effort if it makes YOU happy then do it. Refer back to my earlier point about not bringing your best stuff, but strip down to the essentials and what you really need. Good base, mascara, brows and a bronzer are my personal must haves!
