001. Y'know what. I feel happy. Happier than I've felt in a long time. It's probably ridiculously obvious to anyone who reads my blog that I've been unhappy and unwell for a while now. I feel like for the first time all year I'm strong, fit and healthy enough to get on with my life and be happy again. Going away was the rest I needed and has really helped me get back on track. As of tomorrow I'm going back to being the Old Lily Melrose. I know it's probably boring me harping on about how ill and unhappy I've been so fingers crossed things get a little better around here again!

002. This is the cutest thing I've seen all day!

003. I've been practising my Ukulele this weekend and I think I've finally got to the point where I'm happy enough to show you guys how much I've learnt! Ill make a video later on in the week I think. I've been playing 5 Years Time by Noah and the Whale so much recently. I wish I could sing so I could do that alongside!

004. Please remember to check this post out I wrote earlier in the week about where to follow me after tomorrow and Google Reader goes! My Bloglovin link for this blog is here

005. As you can see from the above video I've decided to start making every other day videos on my Youtube Channel! I'm super excited about it and it all kicks off tomorrow with a peek into the outfits that I wore when I was on holiday during the day. I'll be posting them on here as well as on my channel so go over and subscribe if you're intrested in seeing them as soon as they go up!

topshop boutique shorts
zara heels

Last night i went out with my friends Dal and Jess in Clapham, We lost our lives a little bit but we always have the best times and above is what I wore. We chilled up on our balcony for a bit, while we don't have an amazing view (it backs on to houses!) so nice to spend a warm summer evening up there.  I've got a huge thing for shorts at the moment and literally cannot stop wearing them. I used to hate them but they've totally grown on me andI cant get enough of them! These Topshop boutique lay unworn for far too long, but I feel like I've wore them most days recently! Paired with my favourite bright swing vest from River Island. I went into River Island with the intention of finding it in a few other colours but they didnt have it! I'd love a red and a black one to add to my collection. And if you wanted to see my fave before and after then check out my Instagram here.

Instagram photos will be gone as of tomorrow and normally outfit photos will resume. I feel like such a cop out doing them so much recently but I didnt take my camera on holiday with me this time so couldnt really do proper ones. Im gonna be working on my photos a bit over the next few weeks and switching things up a bit so I really hope you enjoy them.

I'll be back later with another update, Sunday post type thing but I thought I'd leave this here as well as i nevber post enough night out outfits!

river island tee*
topshop skirt
zara wedges

Off home today! Sorry things have been sporadic but I've been reacessing loads of things and planning on how to changing things up a little upon my return to the UK. I think its always nice to come away from things and think about what you really want to do and where you want to go in life. I've been feeling so lost recently and the last 6 months have really taken it's toll on me emotionally and physically. Sometimes you need to be alone, think about life and just work out what you really need to do in order to be the best person you can be. I feel like I haven't been me in so long now, IM a shadow of my former self and reading my blog back, Im really not that person I was a year, two years or even three years. My life is different now Im older, I have adult responsibilities and more on my plate than I did when I started this blog. My life has changed from living in a small town, working in a bakery and having nothing to my name. I now have a successful blog, live in a city I've always dreamed of and sometimes I think my life is so surreal I don't even realise how not normal my life actually is.

I think John Green said it best "Don't forget to be awesome". Time to be awesome again. Watch this space.

follow me or you'll miss me!

Thursday, June 27, 2013

So I don't really know whats actually going on with the whole closing down of Google Reader. Some people say GFC (the blogger follow thing) is going, I don't think so, it is just the Google Reader side. But, on Monday for good it closes and you could potentially lose all the blogs you follow. So today I thought I'd go ahead and talk about the places online that you can find me and what to do now that it's shutting down. I don't want any of you to miss my posts so it's advisable to at least follow via one way!

Blog Lovin': I personally use Bloglovin to read all my blogs. It's easy to use, bigger photos and looks a whole lot nicer. I whole heartedly recommend following my blog on there! If you don't have an account you just create a Bloglovin’ account and in the process it asks if you want to import the blogs you read on Google Reader to your new Bloglovin’ account. All you have to do is click and it will import them for you. Click here to follow me!

Twitter: I post my blog links most days over on my Twitter account. I talk about anything and everything from music to food to stuff that I like and clothes that I want. Also it's also the best place to get hold of me for quick questions!

Facebook: I don't post very often on my Facebook page, but all my social media pushes their so if you don't have Instagram or Twitter you can see what I chat about over on there. I really want to get into using it properly, although admittedly I don't actually use my personal Facebook all that much so I don't really know how to use it!

Instagram: I'm a huge Instagram addict, I do post round ups most weeks over on this blog if you want to see things instantly then definitely go follow me on there! I post pictures of food, drinks, selfes! Nothing out of the ordinary but I love Instagram so much!

Youtube: I've been getting into Youtube a lot recently and I try and post two new videos a week over on there. Sometimes I post them on here sometimes I don't. Id be super grateful if you could subscribe to my channel as I have big plans for the future on there!

My Other Blog: It surprises me people don't remember that I have two blogs! I also write a beauty blog called ETC LLYMLRSin which I review stuff and talk about some of my favourite beauty things. I'd highly recommend following that via BlogLovin as well which you can do here.

monki top
topshop silk shorts
topshop sandals

This was outfit a two nights ago, so not really todays outfit but still! I really liked this outfit. Simple and effortless but still looked really well put together. My hair is all kinds of crazy at the moment thanks to the heat so I wore it up. I don't often wear it in a high pony outside of my bedroom or the gym as I don't like my hairline but hey, might as well switch it up a little!

This holiday is going by so quickly! Today is the halfway point and I fly back on Friday. Im looking super bronze and feeling really refreshed. I wasn't supposed to go on the annual family holiday at first because I didn't think I really want to spend so long away from my job and so long with my family. However it has been nice and it really is a treat coming out to the sun for so long! Hope everyone is well (:

ren morrocan rose otto body wash review swatch photo
ren morrocan rose otto body wash: £17*

Depsite being a huge REN fan I've actually never tired their body range. I'm a recent covert to rose scented products so when I was offered this I jumped at the change. I really enjoyed the scent of rose, it's slightly oriental which I quite liked. It is a uplifting, relaxing fragrance ideal for winding down in the evenings. The scent is sophisticated and mature but not too strong and despite being rose doesnt have that ''old" smell you can sometimes get with Rose products. Leaves skin feeling soft, clean and fresh. REN Moroccan Rose Otto Body Wash is a massive cult product and I can see why it wins so many beauty awards. It's luxurious and extravagant and not something I could see myself buying in the future but it would make a lovely gift. As with all REN products this doesn't contain and nasties so is perfect for those with sensitive skin.

my top ebay finds

Ebay Spiked Loafers
Ebay Round Sunglasses
Ebay 3d Mesh Jumper
Topshop Via Ebay Cat Shirt
Ebay White Blazer

In post and video I'm gonna be focusing on some of my favourite eBay finds from over the years. I've been using eBay for as long as I can remember so today Im doing a rundown of some of the pieces I've acquired. eBay is the worlds largest market place and there are hundreds of thousands of transactions going on every single day. It's a treasure trove of vintage bargains, affordable prices and great value. Being able to buy anything from a car to a nail art kit for a reasonable price. I think the fact you can find so many different gems and unique pieces as well as things you've been looking for for ages and you can also now shop using the eBay Marketplace. There are a pair of Emma Cook for Topshop boots that I still search for even though I think they were released about 8 years ago now. Every now and again they seem to pop up!

Im a bit of a sunglasses addict, I literally have about 20-30 pairs but I have to admit the ones I picked up on eBay are my favourites. The round shape is really on trend and gives really 60's vibes. I actually wore these to London Fashion Week last season and had so many comments on where they were from and how much. I love the smugness of telling someone you found it on eBay. It's a little bit of smug satisfaction! I think people forget it's not just full of old tat these days!

The 3D Mesh tops were purchased from a fixed price auction. They are really good value for money and are really well made considering the price. I have them in white and black but I think the black one if my favourite. I love how much texture it adds to a outfit and looks so much more expensive than they actually were. I think they cost around £11 including shipping which I thought was a great deal. Although I would say is that these are slightly on the small size! The cat shirt is one of my favourite finds on eBay because I love how unique the print is and I always get compliments on it. It sold out so ridiculously quickly on the highstreet so finding it online meant I was still able to find the item I wanted without going without!

I talk about a few other items in the video which you can check out above or over on my Youtube channel!

how much is your face worth? 2

how much is your face worth
Clarins Instant Smooth Primer (£26), Laura Mercier Radiance Primer* (£18.50), Laura Mercier Silk Creme Foundation (£33), Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (£4.99), By Terry Touche Velouttee (£35), Bourjois Maxi Delight Bronzer (£8.99)*, Laura Mercier Mineral Powder (£32), Chanel Emerveille Illusion D'Ombre (£24), MyFace Eyeliner (£6.99), Chanel Volumes Des Chanel (£24), Hourglass Riviera (£23), Hourglass Arch (£26) = £262.47
I did one of these a while ago and thought I'd do another as it's been a good year since I did the last one. I change my makeup quite often at the moment and I've noticed that I've been using a lot more high end things than I used to. If you havent seen this tag before the basic gist of the tag (if you couldn't guess) is to list all the products you use on your face and then add them up to get the price of all the products you use. I think if I totted up all the prices of the skincare, treatments and all the other things I use on my face on a daily basis, one can only imagine how high that would be! Considering I actually bought most of the items I've worn I feel super guilty looking at all that money I spent on makeup... Maybe I need to do a budget version of one of these! How much is your face worth?

holiday 2013 day 3

river island shoes

topshop necklace

Last nights outfit was this dress, one that I've had for ages but got lost in my wardrobe shuffle. I did a huge clear out before I came a way and and old favourite was discovered! I've had it a long time now and I actually don't think Missguided sell it anymore unfortunately, but you might be able to find something similar. I love how the white really contrasts with the black to give a interesting bodice effect while the chiffon skirt keeps it girly. Paired with my "Jasmine" shoes I thought this was a really lovely little outfit to wear on a hot Turkish evening!

We didn't really do much last night apart from chill, and then we came back early as we were all so tired. The hot weather really takes it out of me! I'm currently sitting in my air conned room taking some time out to check on my emails briefly and make sure I'm up to date with the sidebar of shame over on the Daily Mail! I need to download a new book for my Kindle so any recommendations would be perfect! Thank you!

balmi review swatch photo
balmi review swatch photo

Balmi has come out with a new cube shaped lip balm. These little bad boy's are packed full of natural goodness contains antioxidant-rich Vitamin E, soothing Shea Butter and Jojoba Oil and are also SPF15. I've been very loyal to my "old shape" rounded Balmi and I use it on a regular basis. The coconut one smells and tastes like an absolute dream, not too over powering and not too synthetic. As a big coconut fan it's right up my street. Balmi leave lips are left super soft, moisturised and fresh. The unique shape means you don't have to get all unhygienic and use your fingers which is awesome. Dippy products make me cringe a little (spreading bacteria!) so being able to apply straight from the pot makes this quick and hygienic. These can be picked up from Boots or online and come in a variety of flavours. My personal favourite is this one and the Raspberry.

topshop shorts
asos vest
topshop shoes
black tied brackets*
river island necklace

This is tonights outfit! We always "have" to dress up as my mother is one of those women who thinks we have to all look presentable at all times. Even more so in the evenings. I opted for shorts again. I've had these shorts for ages and they've been part of my go-to going out wardrobe for god knows how long. They are really highly decorated with beading and look so expensive (on reflection I think they were around the £50 mark!) I always get compliments on them as well. The top is from ASOS and I simple adore it's flattering flared out shape. Lets say I've already been getting my moneys worth by doing all inclusive! Tum is looking a lot rounder than usual! Oops!

No7 Extravagant Volume Waterproof Mascara

No7 Extravagant Volume Waterproof Mascara review swatch photo
No7 Extravagant Volume Waterproof Mascara review swatch photo
No7 Extravagant Volume Waterproof Mascara: £12*

I got this No7 Extravagant Volume Waterproof Mascara from a Boots Summer press event and didnt really think too much of it at first. I used it a few times but decided to give it a people whirl in preparation for my holiday. I need a decent waterproof mascara to wear in the sun and while lounging around the pool. Yes Im one of those people that wears makeup on holiday!

The mascara itself is in a small stubby little container and has a thick plastic wand. I found the brush easy to use and it coated my lashes with minimal effort. No7 Extravagant Volume Waterproof Mascara that it lasts all day with no running or smudging and I don't find it migrates or flakes off during the day. While I've not tested it's waterproof-ness extensively (i.e in a swimming pool) it has survived my last few weeks of hayfever hell without going all over my face. The formula is great for volume building and gives that false lash effect but can get a little clumpy if you over apply. Depends how you feel about spider lashes, Admittedly I'm a fan so that isn't too much of an issue with me. It reminds me a little of the Clinique High Impact Extreme Mascara in formula and wand.

I do really like this and don't think it's too badly priced for a highstreet/drugstore mascara. Like I said it's very similar to the Clinique one and gives similar same results for a few pounds less. We all know Im a bit of a n00b when it comes to applying mascara but it was suprisngly easy to use this one! I'll have to report back on it's effectiveness in a swimming pool once I get back from my Holiday!

american apparel vest
topshop shorts
primark sandals

I know I've been the worst blogger ever in recent weeks. I'll put my hands up and admit that outright. However I am now on annual leave (lol) so Ive decided to try and blog everyday. I go on holiday with ny family every year, same place every time. But I always get bored and need alone time, hence why I take time out to blog! Anyway, Here's the first outfit I've worn since I got here a few hours ago. Shorts and vest combo with sandals. Simple, perfect for the boiling hot weather we are currently having in Turkey. I've had these Denim Topshop shorts for so long now I can barely remember when I actually bought them. However I wear them every year and despite my fluctuating weight over the years they still fit perfectly!

We got our room upgraded for the first time so we are in a lush villa with a private pool. My Mum has been here about 10 times in the past and its actually so funny as the staff know them so well. I shall be updating everyday (hopefully) and I've also started a hashtag on Instagram with all my holiday pics on. I love other peoples holiday pics so if you're interested check out #llymlrsholiday for all the snaps! Im also filming a holiday lookbook for those who are more youtube inclined!

PS. Sorry I cant find all the items online, internet is a bit slow here! If you know the links please pop them in comments to help others! Thanks!

Laura Mercier Lip Crayon in Mayan Sun

Laura Mercier Lip Crayon in Mayan Sun review swatch photo

Laura Mercier Lip Crayon in Mayan Sun is as the name suggests a lip pencil. Much like the Clinique Chubby sticks and the other dupes on the market for the infamous tubby lip tubes. TThe formula is very hydrating and glossy, while being smooth pencil which gives good opaque coverage on the lips. Mayan Sun is a pretty orangey shade with some nude undertones, Perfect peachy pink with a little more orange than your average coral lipstick. The formula is very buildable so you can change it depending on how opaque you want it to look. The texture is lovely, super soft and glides onto the lips with ease. It wears comfortably and is super easy to use. This is limited edition with the Laura Mercier Folklore collection so get your mitts on it before it's gone for good!

topshop shorts
forver 21 shirt
topshop boots
river island ring
black tied bracelet

Thought I'd bust out these Topshop Boutique shorts I got ages ago but havent worn! Inspired by the shorts queen herself Caroline Flack and went bare legged. Not that my pins are anything compared to her perfectly toned legs but hey. I'll try anything. They shorts are 100% silk so they literally feel like Im wearing nothing at all. I love it! Paired with this silky shirt from Forever 21, perfect comfy easy warm weather dressing!
