NYE

boohoo bralet (white bits taken off)*
H&M heels

I *think* this is going to be my New Years Eve outfit! Although lets face it, It's subject to change. The unpredictable weather and depending on how I feel in a few hours means I might change my mind. I picked up this blazer in the River Island sale, I was tempted to get it full price when it was in store but Im glad I waited as I only paid £20 in the end. The Bralet is the one I wore to the #Vice10 Party but I took of the white sequins as I felt it was just a bit too much and I'd get more wear out of a plain one. I might also swap the shoes as these ones just aren't working for me. After I lost my favourite black heels on a night out on Cardiff (don't ask, this is a common theme in my life!) I haven't found "the one" to replace them yet!

It's a long story about why my knee's look the way they do, but I really hate them. I don't hide them away, but I cant bring myself to wear those vulgar skin tone coloured tights to make them look less weird! I could easily photoshop them to make them look nice, but Im not all for that false glossy perfection crap! I might Rimmel Sun Shimmer them if I have time before I go out though!

Im off to a party with some of my best blogging (although lets face it they are my "RL" friends) buds- Zoe, Lina & Katie as well as my housemate. For hopefully what will be a night of debauchery and the usual memory loss. 2012 has been good to me, I've met some of the best friends I've had and I've never been happier.

I'll do a proper round up on my thoughts tomorrow about 2012 but until then, have a safe and fun New Year's Eve!  Despite the fact I don't say it half as much as I should, I love you all!

sunday portrait week 143

001. Its New Years Eve Eve and Christmas feels a LONG time ago! I came back to London yesterday with a stinking cold and three massive bags to struggle about with! As soon as I stepped through my front door I plopped the bags down (they are still there) and ran to my room and lay in my bed! I'll film a What I got for Christmas video as soon as I'm not as snotty and gross! Im trying to rest up and hope that I'm not ill on NYE as I have big plans with some of my favourite people! Vitamin C, Bed Rest and lots of Olbas Oil for Melrose!

002. As Im currently ill and in bed with no makeup I thought I'd share an image that was snapped of me while I was doing my Boohoo shoot a few weeks ago! Just lil' ol' me posing outside Big Ben! I cant wait to see the finals from this as it was such a fun day!

003. I cant wait for my sale purchases to come! I bought the Zara heels I'd had my eyes on for a while, as well as a new leather tote bag. Beauty wise I purchased the Redken Extreme Range including Anti Snap, Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm and the new Xen Tan Morrocan Tan which I cant wait to get my paws on! Apparently it smells like an absolute dream and I've heard nothing but glowing reviews about the colour! I haven't been to any sales in store yet as I don't get paid until the end of the month so fingers crossed there is some bits left for me to splash out on once I have some money again! God bless anyone who managed to venture out on Boxing Day to get the best bargains, I just couldn't do it!

004. Remember last week when I mentioned that I was having issues with my subscriber feed? Basically it SHOULD fingers crossed be fixed now. Something boring to do with my RSS feed not working and being undiscoverable on the blog page. So if you follow this blog, and it doesn't come up in your Blogger dashboard you'll need to unsubscribe and refollow the blog and it should work as the feed is now valid. Phew!

005. A lot of people ask about my JWLRY shop, It's closed at the moment but I do have some stock left which I've decided to sell off. I'd love to be able to do it again, but I don't know if I have the time to run that as well as the other work I'm doing at the moment. Although it does depend on demand I suppose I might reopen somewhere down the line!

best of 2012: lips

review swatch photo
Topshop Powder Room Lip Stick, Illamasqua Androgen Pigment, MAC Hue, Topshop Whimsical, MAC Overtime Longwear Lipstick
Topshop Powder Room Lip Stick: I've been a huge fan of the Topshop Lip Sticks this year. Powder Room turned out to be my favourite one, It's a pale-but bright neutral pinky tone with some peachiness going through it. It's definitely not one for dry lips, this clings to every dry patch and accentuates any imperfections. However a good lip scrub and a bit of prep before applying really does make this much easier to apply. I love the chalkiness for some reason, it's a kinda old fashioned matte finish.

Illamasqua Androgen Pigment: Androgen is super pigmented bright pink coral with can look flouresent worn opaque or a sheer wearable peach when sheered out. The texture of this one is really odd, in the pan it's sort of stiff and clay like with very little slip. One applied it warms up slightly and sits quite comfortably on the lips.

MAC Hue Lipstick: My go-to nude lipstick. Hue is a pale pink, almost milky nude shade in the MAC Glaze formula. I'm not a huge fan of glossy lips, but the formula works on me because matte nudes can leave me looking a little corpse like! I've actually ran out of this lipstick and really need to purchase it again! The one pictured is my flatmates!

Topshop Whimsical: This is my current go-to lipstick. It's just the most perfect true peach lipstick I've ever bought. It's perfect for nights out or day wear. It's really brightening and flattering on my skin tone and lasts a decent ammount of time on the lips. It has a soft satin like finish which is comfortable and easy to wear.

MAC Overtime Longwear Lipstick: For the longest time I thought this lipstick was called Overdrive and only in the past week I've realised it's called OverTIME. Oops! This has a semi glossy neutral pink with a long wear time. Good for nights out or when your going out for food. It really does last impeccably well on the lips.

what i wore this year

So that's all of 'em! A whopping 164 outfit posts all laid out for easy viewing! I actually have omitted a few, and didn't include any of my snippet style posts or holiday outfits. But overall Im really interested in this visual record of what I wore in a year. The thing about my blog is I genuinely post what I wear that day on the day I blog about it. My style is very "samey" or "unadventurous", I wear a lot of black (I'll never understand why some people find that so odd!) and I tend to go through phases of liking different things  but it is genuinely what I wear. I didn't really start blogging to inspire people, just to record what I wore and then the side product of that was sharing them with like minded people. I don't particularly think Im stylish or fashionable, I wear the same sorts of clothes as most people my age. It's overwhelming at times hearing that you inspire others and that people bought something after you mention it! I like the idea of sharing the best of what the UK hughstreet has to offer.

When I started blogging over three and a half years ago I didn't think "highstreet" style blogging was much of a thing, it was completely dominated by "super bloggers" with eccentric but impeccable taste with seemingly endless bank accounts. Although, I'm those types of blogs biggest fan, but it's also nice to see a huge uprise of affordable and obtainable fashion blogs coming through over the years too.

best of 2012: skincare

review swatch photo

Full Reviews: Origins Out of Trouble Mask, Origns Make A Difference Cream, Ren Glycolatic PeelAlpha H Liquid Gold, La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo
Origins Clear Improvement Mask: I love this mask for those days where my skin looks really congested and it's about to breakout. It works wonders at drawing out all the impurities from under the skin and briging it all to the surface. Packed full of White Clay and Charcoal this mask feels really medicinal and you can feel it working as it hardens. It by no means is a "one night wonder", your spots don't disappear the next day, but I can definitely see the difference after using this.

Origins Make A Difference Cream: While my skin isn't dry it can get really dehydrated. Oily skin suffers can often get dehydrated skin because most moisturisers for oily skin dry the skin out. But then I find creams designed for dry skin form a layer on my skin leaving it feeling over saturated and greasy. This cream sinks beautifully into my skin leaving my face feeling plumped, even and correctly balanced. It has a lovely cooling feeling on the face too which is perfect when my skin is feeling angry and inflamed.

REN Glycolatic Peel: I tried a few REN masks this year but this radiance boosting one has to be my favourite. My skin can look fairly sallow which is down to the fact I have a pale olive skin tone naturally so I'm always looking for products to give me radiance. This has worked wonders on reducing my scarring while leaving my skin smooth and clear. The fruity acids are a nice gentle exfoliator for the skin.

Alpha H Liquid Peel: Believe the hype. Alpha H liquid gold was a cult beauty product that really got big in the blogging world recently and I was skeptical of all the hype. Chemical exfoliators were a new concept to me, the idea of putting something on my face like that terrified me. However once I'd used it once I knew it was one for me! It helped clear up a large ammount of my hyper pigmentation and my scarring. I also feel it speeds up the healing time of my breakouts while also helping make my skin look radiant, glowing and tight. It's hard to explain how it makes my skin look after I've used it without trying it out for yourself.

La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo: A recent addition to my skincare routine but I have to say it's one of the best skincare products I've ever tried. I suffer a lot from hormonal and dairy based breakouts (I just cant resist that damn cheese!) and this has been my go-to product to clear it up. I use this twice daily all over my face before makeup. As well as aiding the healing time of breakouts, the overall texture of my skin has vastly improved and it's really reduced my pore size too which is an added bonus. I've even gone as far to buy a backup of this already as I adore it so much. It's hardly the most luxe skincare item I own but it does the job for sure!
