So I'm off to Ibiza this week and of course, that calls for a little bit of a tidy up around the edges in order to get myself summer ready for a few days in the Ibiza sunshine. I can't wear my skinny jeans forever and so I’m excited to get my summer wardrobe out because it’s super-hot here in Brighton as I write this!

A little about me and my relationship with body hair. I’m what would be considered a pretty hairy gal, and while that might not be the coolest OR most glamorous thing I’ve ever shared on the internet - the guys who get it will get it. While in some ways it’s a blessing, my hair has a life of its own and my eyebrows are full, thick, and on fleek if you will, (although if any of you saw my eyebrow threading catastrophe over in my vlogs then you’ll be pleased to know the gap is now gone. Praise the eyebrow gods!). Whether we remove our body hair or not is a completely individual choice and we all have our own preferences, tools and tips for doing so. Personally, I have pretty fast-growing leg hair, the type that you could shave in the morning and then come afternoon time you’re rocking a sweet five o clock shadow. And for me, that's just not gonna cut it when I’m getting my pins out on a daily basis during the summer. With Ibiza looming I wanted to try something different on my legs and have wanted to try root hair removal for a while to leave longer lasting smooth results - something that might actually last the full 4 days I’m away! So, I’ve been dabbling in epilating with Braun. Epilators basically features a number of rotating micro tweezers which pluck the hair really quickly from the root, removing the whole hair (like when you have a wax) and leaving legs looking silky smooth and hair free.

The Braun Silk-épil 5 Wet and Dry Epilator has made me realise that epilating is not as intimidating or as painful as I expected – and it has been designed especially for people who are new to epilating. I took some baby steps, in the beginning, opting to use the new Beginner Cap attachment that comes with the Braun Silk-épil 5 epilator which was a really pleasant way to ease myself into epilating and get used to the sensation of root hair removal. This epilator head features a Gillette Venus razor blade meaning that it only epilates 60% of hairs and shaves the rest for a pain-free experience whilst you get used to the feeling of epilation. So if you're wary when starting out, it’s the perfect way to gently ease into epilation, and still achieve the longer lasting results (hair free for up to 4 weeks!). Once you get used to the sensation of eliciting you can graduate from the beginners and move onto the normal epilation head. The Braun Silk-épil 5 can also capture hairs that are as short as 0.5mm in length, which is way less than waxing so you don't have to let it grow out so much before doing it again.

I used to think that epilating was a painful form of hair removal and that it would take ages to do, but because you can use it wet and dry I can get it done while I'm showering without thinking too much about it. Using it in the shower also softens the hairs making them easier to capture and making epilating a gentler experience - plus no painful razor burn, no accidental cuts and you don't need to buy replacement blades as you would a razor.

Like I said I’m converted, I’ve always avoided shaving because my skin can be sensitive and get irritated quickly, and like I said I might as well be Chewbacca under my clothes 90% of the time. But this is going to be a total must have for me this summer. You know that feeling when you’ve got super smooth legs and you can’t stop touching them. That's me right now writing this post! It’s totally going to be a hero product for me this summer!
