summer bucket list

summer bucket list things to do this summer summer bucket list 2014 things to do in london

Inspired by this story I saw over in Chapter Friday I thought I’d write myself a little summer Bucket List. A list of things that I want to do over the remaining summer month. Here are a few of my ideas but do let me know if you have your own personal summer bucket list. It might inspire me to add to mine.

1. Go Glamping. This has been something I’ve wanted to do for ages now but never got round to it. The idea of taking a little break from the hustle and bustle of city life and heading to a fancy campsite excites me. Im thinking a yurt or a pod somewhere really quiet, toasting marshmallows on a fire and giggling with some cans of Pimm’s. Recommendations welcome.

2. Host a Cocktail Party. I make a mean Mojito but I think it’s time to brush up on my mixology skills and get mixing. I’m thinking Hawaiian Punch, Pina Colada, Mai Thai . A tiki party is in order - Where the Hula Skirts at?

3. Rent a Hot Tub. Me and my housemates have been talking about this for years now and I think we’re finally going to do it at a house party in the coming weeks. If not I think we’re going to take a trip to one of the Hot Tub Cinema club’s in the city and chill. Me and Dal had a really redneck pool party last year which involved an Ikea underbed storage unit and a few buckets of water. We had fun though!

4. Make a Scrap Book. I’ve been photographing things like crazy this past summer as I really want to make more of an effort to record the things I do. I’m already planning to get all my favourite photos printed out for a scrap book or memory box. Seeing printed photos has such a different quality about them compared to them on screen.

5. Explore London More. I feel like so far this summer I’ve not spent much time in London. I’m going to make it my mission to explore the city I’ve grown to call home. I want to go to more places to eat that I haven’t before and try to do some more touristy things. I didn’t go to London until I was 18 so I’ve never really don’t anything too touristy like the Tower of London or the Aquarium! Although I'll probably regret this once I see all the tourists. I'm THAT kind of Londoner.

6. Meet new people. This one I've been working hard at all year. I've been meeting more and more new people who have become positive and interesting influences on my life. Summer is the perfect time to meet new people as the weather puts people in better moods and everyone seems to be a little nice nicer y'know!

7. Be a bit reckless. Because it is Summer after all. Let loose.

  1. Come to North Yorkshire. There are plenty glamping sites up here and the scenery is mint. Win, win!

  2. Rent a hot tub? Say what now?! I had no idea this was even a thing! I’ve clearly been living under a rock and this has now gone straight on my summer bucket list! Also, the next time I’m staying in London I'm going to have to check one of these Hot Tub Cinema club things out!!

  11. I love things like this! My NY resoloution for 2014 was to do something new or memorable each month so that I could look back and have at minimum 12 key moments to remember.

So far I have got my ears pierced (I know, why did I wait so long?) went to a new city (Florence), raised money for charity by doing a 10K muddy obstacle course (i am the least sportiest person out there) signed up to a make-up course and am off to a festival... to name a few.

It's like a small dose of an adrenaline rush, really inspiring and motivating and just makes you realise what you can do with your time when you put your mind to it.

I hope you enjoy your summer and feel the same! x

  15. I'd always thought of glamping as something people do when they don't do festivals properly, but never as an actual getaway to some place quiet. It's sounding like a brilliant idea now! x

  24. Yes a Hawaiian cocktail party would be amazing, going to Hawaii is a dream of mine so bringing out the tikki torches and hula skirts would be such fun just to pretend I'm in Hawaii for one night, also I totally agree with the whole having printed pictures to look at is so much better than on screen and I've been wanting to make a scrap book of all my photos for ages. I am also determined to learn to surf this year when I go to cornwall next week, there's just something about the summer that lures me to board sports xx

  26. Glamping is definitely something I want to try one year- to go all out at Bestival or Glastonbury and get a yurt or a tipi would be amazing!

Lily, would you ever consider doing a video or blog post on advice for moving to London? I'm moving there myself in four weeks from a tiny town in south west England and although I'm hugely excited it's a bit scary! I'd love to see a video on your experiences, tips etc of making the move there. Just thought I'd mention it as an idea :) xxx
