To me everything - I do could be a blog potential blog post. From going to a gig to making a smoothie to just a simple idea to spark off a blog post. Some of the best content I find comes from real experiences in your everyday life. I can’t remember if I’ve said this publicly before but I think 2014 is going to be the year of the advice blog. More how-to’s, guides and personal experiences alongside the usual frivolous stuff of fashion and beauty blog.
You can make awesome content from literally just going on a walk in your local forest - Lifestyle Post. To popping to the shops... haul post - duh?. Reorganising your wardrobe to cleaning your oven. Going on Holiday? Write a Travel Guide. Going to see a movie? Review it. Learnt a new skill? Share it.
Take your camera everywhere. Pick a small - but good compact camera. I have the Sony RX100 II, which is absolutely outstanding in quality but not very purse friendly. As I take my camera everywhere, I go I always have something to document whatever I might be getting up to. I recently went to Homeslice with a friend completely unplanned and had an awesome pizza which if I didn’t have my little compact in my bag I wouldn't have been able to capture in all its cheesy glory. This is an example of how just getting on with your everyday life can be a blog post. Another thing I often do is to write down what I'm up to in my diary and see who I might be with at what time in the hope I can rope them into taking photos of me for an outfit post. That way I don’t need to call up Jon all the time to come take my photos - Plus I always have a stockpile of good content whenever I’m in a sticky situations.
When you start to think like a blogger then actually creating content is a lot easier than you might think. You can make so much content purely from the littlest things you do in your day to day life. I think about blogging 24/7 seven days a week. I’ve been known to even wake up to jot ideas down for blog posts. Once when I went on holiday I wrote down all the content I wanted to produce while I was away. I could do a holiday skincare post, poolside beauty post, what I wore on holiday post… all of the things are helpful to the reader and make awesome content. Why waste an opportunity when you can produce something at the same time as doing something productive!
Thinking like a blogger will really help with your blogging experience. It’s changed my attitude to blogging completely. I no longer worry about not having an enough to post because I'm recording pretty much everything I do and working out how I can make that into content for my blog!
