new look winter wishes ball
If you follow me on Twitter you'll know that I'm really ill again, I apologise for not posting the past two days, but I've been busy with work and prior blogging commitments. I have now decided to sack everything off until I am better! I thought I was better on Wednesday, I had my voice back, and I was feeling a little more me than I had been! None the less, I probably jinxed it by going to the New Look Winter Wishes Ball and was ill again the very next day.
I always think its weird working with New Look as a blogger, I used to work there in store about three years ago when my blog was just taking off. It's quite humbling experience being asked to work with them on a professional level. I remember I actually shot a video with them backstage at Giles Deacon while I was still working in the store. It's strange to see how my life has changed. I never dreamed of going to a fancy star-studded Christmas Ball. The ball was a charity one aimed at raising funds for New Look's charitable foundation. There was a silent auction as well as a live auction, plus loads of raffle tickets and scratch cards with tons of prizes. We were also treated to a three course meal, performance by dance troupe Flawless and then a fun little sing song by the Saturdays (sans Frankie!). Then we danced a little and then it all wrapped up, and we went home.
I only found out about the ball the day before so I was in a bit of a tizz of what to wear. The dress code was Black Tie/Red Carpet glam, and I had an hour between work to and the ball find a dress. In the end, I settled on this one from Topshop. I wasted something fancy but not too prom-like, more stepped out the Great Gatbsy than just stepping out of a gross stretched hummer for my end of school prom. I think what I chose was alright, albeit a little shorter than I wanted. I didn't get any better photographs of it, but it's a halter neck style with really pretty beading detail. I decided to throw on a feathery cape type thing as I'd always wanted one I just needed an excuse to get one. I had some vouchers left over from when I shot the Miss Selfridge Collective thing, so I used that to get one. My shoes I bought for my God Son's Christening as I completely forgot to take any appropriate shoes home with me when I went home for it for that so picked these up from Zara.
Despite ending up ill and almost losing my phone and having a strop at the end of the night because of a mixture of those two things I had a really lovely time at the party. As I said it's weird working with New Look after working there, but it's always fun and inspiring seeing where the brand goes in the future.
