Gah, Sorry if your sick of these types of post's, I know not everyone is jumping on the Disco Pant Bandwagon! I'm just a bit obsessed with trying to find dupes for disco pants even though I have the real ones! I have to admit these are the closet to real disco pants I've come across so far in terms of tightness and fit. They are super tight and very black (unlike the Glamourous ones) like the American Apparel ones. One thing I like more than the Original Disco's is the fact the River Island ones aren't as shiny, they are pretty matte but still a little shiny at the same time. So they look a lot more appropriate for day wear as I think the shininess of the real disco pants a little too much for the day. They are also much shorter than the Disco Pants (but come in a longer length too!) which Im sure us shorties will be happy with! They have the fly detail and a slightly high waist, I don't think it's incredibly flattering in the crotch area, but I tend to not have this on show anyway! Overall I'm very happy with them even though I don't think the quality is as good as the originals. I've worn these today and they've already started to split at the leg, so I will be exchanging for another pair! Im a size 10 in these and a small in American Apparel disco pants. For my thoughts on other pairs of Disco Pants Dupes see here and here.
Anywayyy onto the actual outfit. I picked this top up from Primark when I was returning a few items a few weeks ago. I didn't really think too much of it originally but pulled it out to try on today and I was super happy with it. Looks much more expensive than Primark and sooo flattering and so cute! I wasn't so taken with the whole baroque print when it came out but this monochrome print is right up my street! I wore my super comfy River Island coatigan which is the warmest most snug jacket I own and my trusty clothing at tesco flats. They are starting to get a bit on the scruffy side so I might have to retire them for a new pair!
no way is that top form primark! these are great looking dupes aswell!

love the dupes :) they look great on you and thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI think your shirt goes so well with the silver jewellery :) PERFECT AS ALWAYS, dear :)

Nice top!
ReplyDeleteTotally adore the top! Some things in Primark do look 'very Primark', but I agree that this looks much more expensive! I really want to get my hands on some disco pants - either original or dupes, but I'm using them as a reward to spur on some weight loss! x
ReplyDeleteLove your little cross bracelet! Nice dupes too :)
ReplyDeleteLove the print on the top,it does look a lot more expensive than Primark ;)

I have these too..and online it did say high shine... Bit of a lie haha! But they fit nicely! Xx
ReplyDeleteWonderful like always!

I've got these 'tube' pants too and mine are coming apart on both of the legs after only a week and a bit of owning them (and not wearing them everyday..) as well. I think they are pretty good dupes but they're too long for me (in regular length) so the real ones must be extremely long on a short-arse like me! I wanted this shirt too but they didn't have it in my size :( Love how you've styled it all!

I've been loving your disco pant dupes posts. I really want a pair and would obviously love the originals but don't want to pay the £70. These sound good from what you've said, shame about the quality but hopefully it's just a one off. Hope your exchanged pair is better! :) xx
ReplyDeleteThat blouse is all sorts of lovely! I just did a photoshoot in Griffith Park in LA, and it's filled with dresses and vintage, Stop by my blog and have a look!

Ah these remind me more of the AA riding pants, I think I'm going to get rid of my disco pants (well at least one pair ) as everyone has them and I'm a bit bored of it xx
ReplyDeletewish i had legs for disco pants x
ReplyDeleteShocked the tops primark, soo so nice!

Love this top. Can't wait to hit primark and all the other amazing high street shops when I hit UK soil again next week!
ReplyDeletehtt://justmeedee.blogspot.com
Perfect outfit, I really love the shirt.
ReplyDeleteI like seeing the high street trying to do the disco pant, they aren't quite there yet on quality though.
I had the same problem with the RI ones, had to take them back after one wear as they split a little down the side. They were comfy but I totally agree on the crotch thing too, felt a bit gappy or something?!
ReplyDeleteThat shirt is so cute, I have to get my butt to Primark have not been in forever!
ReplyDeleteGreat top! This whole look is so cute I love it :)

I've just bought a pair on asos £30, hoping theyre just as nice!
ReplyDeleteI love them, they look so similar! Could do with a pair for dossing about in rather than wearing out my proper ones! I love the shirt too

Oh I absolutely love your blouse!

I bought these yesterday and wore them today i love them but mine have also started getting little splits on the inside legs so im a bit disappointed!
ReplyDeleteI was considering these before I decided to go with the real ones. I love my real ones, but I wish they looked more appropriate for day time wearing

I ended up loving the RI version of the leather sleeved jacket as opposed to the Topshop one! Which one did you end up keeping?! I thought the sleeves were a bit too clingy on the Topshop one? Maybe that was just me being lazy and get not trying a few sizes on! (I have an outfit post wearing the RI one on my blog!) The black tshirt dip hem dress you bought is such a nice piece but my chest is too big to pull that style off, sigh! Oh dear apologies for the essay! Anyway, loving this transition into video posting! x

Loving the colour scheme in this outfit! Really chic and mature look.. I recently bought a pair of AA disco pants off ebay for slightly cheaper (before high street dupes came out) and they only just fit! I'm not quite ready to wear them out until I've lost some puppy fat :) heehee. Keep up the good work Lily xx
ReplyDeletehttp://MARIBLEU.blogspot.co.uk
I love RI leggings so am going to give these ones a go! Would you suggest getting a size up in these - to stop the splitting on the inside seams?
ReplyDeletehttp://arrceebee.blogspot.com.au/
I think they're the most flattering dupes you've reviewed. I've always wanted a pair of disco pant originals, however these seem right up my alley.
ReplyDeletex
Hmm interesting.. I am very interested by the concept of Disco Pants but A. I am not sure the AA ones would fit me and B. I am not sure I would wear them enough to warrant the price. How much are the RI numbers? May have to check these bad boys out.. kind sucks if they come apart at the seam though!
ReplyDeletehttp://sweetiesal.blogspot.com
that shirt is gorgeous, you find the best things in primark- it's ridiculous!! & love the disco dupes, I'm tempted to get a pair even though I have the AA ones too... xx
ReplyDeleteHey Lilly! we Love your blog at www.amazine.com We would love to see how you style paterns like this collage on our page http://www.amazine.com/story/698109 ! It would be great to know what you think!
ReplyDeleteThe River Island disco pant dupes are by far the best I've tried! Be interesting to try the Topshop version...

iamlaurenpotts.blogspot.co.uk
I have just bought these in blue, i completely agree they arent the best quality or anything and i much prefer the AA ones, but they are a good dupe. They aren't very flattering on the crotch either, they go very...square.
ReplyDeletehttp://thefashiondistrictnlc.blogspot.co.uk/
Really like your top - looks really good in the monochrome colour scheme. These River Island dupes look really good, really flattering and do sound better than the ones you have looked at in the past - will need to take a wee look!

ReplyDeleteLove the top! Just ordered a pair of AA disco pants. I don't think any dupe will every be as good. eek at the price though.

Lovely outfit - the top looks amazing on you! x
ReplyDeleteWent to try on the River Island ones last night and I was so torn about buying them.. I really liked them on (needed the regular length though and they only had short or long) but quite a few of you have said about the seams which worries me... the whole point is that they should be snug and sucky in and if the seams can't take it, kinda defeats the object? I was thrilled to see what a great peachy ass they gave me though? Which I definitely do not own! I might buy them for that alone.. haha xxx
ReplyDeleteI love Disco pants, there's no way I could pull them off though, my thighs would terrify everyone! Topshop have jumped on the bandwagon with some actually called "disco treggings" - bit cheeky!
ReplyDeletehttp://that-bird.blogspot.co.uk/
I saw you talk about these literally hours after I bought a pair of Disco Pants from Missguided! I'm gutted because these look so much nicer than the ones I've ordered. I might have to have a cheeky purchase of these tomorrow & then return the Missguided ones when they arrive!
ReplyDeleteThey look really nice on, and glad they're not ultra shiny!
xxx

Wow, there are disco pants flying left right and centre in the shops at the minute - even Topshop have some out now! xx
ReplyDeleteWellllll I heard thatt you just copy your housemate Jodie so I'm sure you should give her some recognition in your blog??
ReplyDeletelove that top!cant believe it's primark :o
ReplyDeleteI bought a short pair in a size 10 from river island and exactly the same thing happened, the seam on the leg started to split. I ended up just taking them back, i haven't been brave enough to try an find a replacement yet because i can never decide if i like them on me or not.
