So yes! As the title suggests my blog is THREE YEARS OLD. I literally can't believe I've made it this far to be honest. There has been highs and lows over the last few years in my life as well as on the Internet Surprisingly my blog has always been the one constant thing in my life. When I dropped out of university and moved home I was so lost and downhearted about my life and the direction of what I wanted to do. I ended up going to the local art school where they asked us to create a blog and post on it regularly. Im sure they wanted me to go in the art direction but I ended up doing Fashion stuff. So I did, and from then on I got addicted to the online world of blogging. When I started blogging outfits around the beginning of 2009 I never really thought it would mean anything. At the time no one really did high street blogging so I felt a bit out of place. Flash forward to now and there are so many amazing high street fashion blogs written by girls like me who like clothing but don't necessarily have the money to prance around in hundreds of pounds worth of clothes each day!

Blogging overwhelms me most of the time. Like I said I never expected to become a "professional" or "full time" blogger (not that I agree with that title), it was just a hobby that grew beyond my wildest dreams. I feel incredibly privileged to be who I am today. I really want to make it clear to everyone, no matter how "big" or "small" in the blogging world is that you mean something within the community. If you have no followers, then keep going until someone notices you! It takes ages to get followers, it's so rare they come over night. It is disheartening having no one read your blog, but you should write for yourself until then. I personally don't think there should be so much emphasis on getting readers. If you influence the number of people who do read your blog then that's better than having a bunch of empty faces in your Google Friend Connect. At the end of the day blogging is basically an online diary, and if people so happen to read it then thats the bonus.

I do just want to say a big thank you to you all for CHOOSING to follow my blog and read my posts. It really does mean the world to me, even though if Im not good at expressing it properly! My three year blog anniversary giveaway will be going up tomorrow and I can't wait to show you all as Im super excited about it!

And congrats on 3 years :) my 3 year blog-a-versary was back in March and I only actually have 500 subscribers but I am extremely happy with that - I blog because I enjoy it, not to gain anything from it. Although I am jealous you have made a career out of it - I would love that. xxx

    1. thank you! not really, it depends what you describe as a "good blogger" one that goes to events? if its that i think most people who people think are "good/big bloggers" live in london thats why they get invited to events. pr companies are based down in london so they naturally invite people who live in london because they won't have to pay for transport etc!

    I remember the first time I saw one of your videos (I think it was how you do your hair..?) thinking how normal/down to earth you seemed, I think you're right that people perceive 'big' bloggers as being very cool and aloof and somehow above the rest of us but obviously that's just silly, and maybe we all forget sometimes that the whole point of blogging is so that 'normal' people can get their thoughts out there to the world... so it seems a bit of a turn around to then stop thinking of successful bloggers as 'normal'. I hope some of this is making sense...
    Anyway, just wanted to say well done for three years and for inspiring so many people to start blogging too, me being one of them :) good luck for the future!!

Me and my friend only recently started ours, it's amazing getting followers but more exciting posting and getting comments on it!     I dont think everyone is scared to talk to you because from what ive seen you are quite nice but I know that im sometimes a bit intimidated by you, as if to you replying to us 'minions' on twitter is like a complete inconvenience... This sounds really awful but I don't know how else to put it!! I just know that if I ever saw you at an event I wouldn't dare speak to you for fear of how you might react, purely because I've heard of another big blogger not be so nice to people (girl says omg hi I love your blog ive been following for ages and big blogger replies with 'oh right, well I don't follow yours' and walks away) I totally get that not everyone is like that but hearing of that makes me so nervous of bigger bloggers!! Anyway I've made myself sound stupid enough and I genuinely hope that hasn't offended you, I just thought I'd try and explain why people might not talk as much nowadays

    1. honestly, I think if you think of yourself of a "minion" (or below the blogger in question) then thats your insecurities not the bloggers. it isn't a inconvenience but you have to remember bloggers get the same questions over and over sometimes and only have 140 characters in which to reply. i'm not a "fluffy" blogger, if someone asks what size I'm wearing i'll reply saying "size 10" i don't feel the need to fluff it up. its the answer why do i need to add some jazz to it. to be fair, the "big blogger" whoever it might be in question probably doesn't read their blog, but its not their problem again. its abrupt and rude and they probably shouldn't react like that, but you have to remember just because someone knows who someone else is doesn't mean that blogger does either. Personally i get so nervous when people say stuff like that to me, what do I say? at the end of the day does it matter if they read your blog or not and if they are rude to you then give up and move on! plenty of other bloggers to talk to out there!

But I want you to know that I honestly didn't mean any offence I was just trying to answer a question you asked in your vid (why don't people talk to me anymore). I love your blog and I assume you're a very lovely person in real life! The Internet just skews some people's opinions x

I'm not being defensive I'm just trying to make you see it from someone else's point of view! i didn't think it was offensive and it didn't upset me, i just saw this comment as one to reply to first! what I was basically trying to say, is that if bloggers don't talk back to you its their loss, not yours. some bloggers don't talk to me, and I don't sweat it, just move on and talk to people who i like and want to talk to!

    I've just started reading your blog not too long ago and found out today was your anniversary. I read your post and found it inspiring and motivating to see a blogger who has clearly worked extremely hard. You're genuine and down to earth and I love reading about what you get up to. Every single word you said I totally agreed with. A lot of bloggers don’t realise that with anything you do, whether you want to be a teacher or a designer you need to have passion. One lady who works in a PR company told me that some people actually set up blogs just to get free stuff and I thought that was ridiculous! If you don’t have passion you’re not going to get far at all. I equally enjoy writing daily posts as well and going on twitter and chatting with the online community. I wish you all the best with your blog and congratulations.

  99. I started following you not too long ago and I must say, I'm so glad I did. You are one of the most genuine bloggers I know. I started over a year ago and I felt like the big bloggers were less interested in people and more interested in all the perks. I asked some for help and advice about blogging just because I loved it so much and wanted to develop, but I got nothing. At times I have felt like a lone ranger and questioned whether or not I would do well unless I conform to the blogging norms but I eventually decided to be myself. I won't lie, I was a bit apprehensive about following you because I just started to assume that all the big bloggers had no time for anyone else, but I must say, you are one of the most down to earth, friendly, genuine and sweet bloggers... either that or you're a great actress lol.

  114. Happy 3rd Birthday! You should be so proud of yourself and the work you do Lily! :). You're definitely a committed blogger who has really made a difference to some peoples lives. If it wasn't for me discovering you on the internet, I would have never known there was a possibility for me to get my love for fashion and writing noticed by journalists ' sooo i hugee thanks to youu!. It's sad as well that like you said (in your video) people are judge straight away as bloggers being bitchy or arrogant by outsiders when they haven't even met you. All I can say is no matter how horrible the comments are just keep your chin up and ignore them :). You know girls .. jelously is the number one cause. Your blog is fantastic and i'm pretty sure me and many other girls would love to met you one day and wish to borrow some fab clothing of you! I wish that my blog can do as well as yours as it's only over a year old and you do right to advise people that it's gradual the success you get from blogging. xx

  133. It's funny how things happen like that completely by accident. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I used to be sad if I didn't get new followers but now it doesn't matter to me, because I blog because I like to have somewhere to look back and remember, and blogging is consistent (usually), vs. a paper diary that I never write past 20 pages in. Congrats and keep doing what you're doing, because it's working :)
