John Lewis Oxford Street Beauty Hall has undergone a million pound face lift, I think it's reported at being around the 7 million pound mark! The Beauty Hall concept that John Lewis has decided upon is based on the idea of a Town Square, All the premium cosmetics are around the outside in "houses" and then the other brands are scattered around in niche areas. As soon as I walked into the John Lewis Beauty Hall launch I was wowed. The Beauty Hall feels very bright, light and incredibly well laid out. For example the makeup is all in one area and the skincare in another and so on. It makes looking for things so much easier, as well as discovering new things if you aren't really sure what you want. I felt a bit more inclined to look at other brands I didn't even know existed rather than going to the counters I normally go to.
All the premium brands (Bobbi Brown, Jo Malone, Laura Mercier etc) areas are spaced out it felt like you were getting a premium experience that you would expect from such brands. The premium brands also have little areas which would be used for makeup bookings or testing products which I thought were really nice as some of them were cornered off on the floor so it was very private and enclosed (Laura Mercier for example). Smaller, lower end help-yourself brands are then zoned by product purpose into little areas. I noticed that there felt like there was so much more space to move around and look at things around the counters.
The main thing I noticed with the new John Lewis Beauty Hall was just how spacious and open it felt, Obviously I went to a private launch and it wasn't full of the usual Oxford Street Crowd but overall the experience was really enjoyable. I always feel department stores can be a little cramped so it was really refreshing to have some space for a change. It just felt like the space really worked and all I wanted to do was explore and see more of the different areas. Everything flowed really well into each other, it didn't feel confused or cramped. There are some really fun elements to the store including a wall of OPI nail polishes, a rainbow on Molton Brown products and a help yourself sample range at the Origins Counter. It all makes for a more interactive and user friendly environment!
Im not one to get excited about department stores opening a beauty hall, but I really do think the John Lewis one is worth visiting. I normally buy all my makeup, nail polishes or skincare from Selfridges as it's all in the same place. But this looks like it is going to save me a walk down the road! I say its worth checking out if your ever in London! I do think its a crazy ammount of money on a revamp but it really works for the space they have! Im looking forward to going in on a regular opening rather than a private one just for a good look around!
John Lewis have a wide range of products on sale in their Beauty Hall including: Topshop Makeup (the only stand thats not in a Topshop Store) Essie, OPI, Caudalie, Jurlique, REN, Diptyque, Burberry Beauty, YSL, Chanel, Origins, Liz Earle (including their new makeup range!) and SO much more!

Amazing pictures! I love John Lewis anyway, this beauty hall reminds me of a massive Duty Free :)

This looks SO inviting! I really wish there was somewhere like that where I could buy makeup and skincare, living in a sleepy town isn't great for stuff like that!
ReplyDelete:O If only I could live in there! x
ReplyDeleteLooks gorgeous, I would really love to go somewhere like that. I always find department stores feel too claustrophobic and the layout makes me feel pressurised to buy and get out. xx
