estee lauder double wear maximum coverage foundation: debenhams (£26.5o)
Im gonna start with saying I KNOW this wont be everyone's cup of tea. I LOVE full coverage foundation, I LOVE the completely made-up-doll-like look. Its completely matte and full-full-full coverage. I wanted it for ages, but the sales assistant wouldnt sell it to me. Yes, she physically wouldn't let me buy the product even though I wanted it. In the end I bought it from another counter and they didnt bat a eyelid! Seeing Hannah & Kelly both wearing it cemented my feelings and I needed it in my life.
I use a pea sized amount to cover my whole face. I apply using a MAC 187 or a MAC 109, You need to buff the foundation in as much as you can, as a little goes a long way. I think applying it just before your moisturizer or primer is completely dry makes it alot easier to blend as it dries down quite quickly down to a very matte finish. I've used a bit of MAC Fix+ as well to help blend it a bit if it felt a little stiff. It is 100% full coverage, it cover all my scars, blemishes and redness. Your skin does have that "make up" look to it, I dont find it cakey. I find its quite glowy too, not as in dewey but a slightly satin-luminous sort of finish, but still very matte. Its not as liquid in constancy as the regular Double Wear and because it covers more I feel I use alot less. The packaging is much better than Double Wear, as you only need to squeeze out a tiny bit of product, I find Double Wear quite wasteful as I always tip to much out, which means I tend to apply more than I need.
Like I always say GO GET MATCHED if your planning on buying it. Estee Lauder do really generous 10 day samples of foundation, and they are always really cool about it so don't worry about asking! I'm Creamy tan, which is a bit darker than I'd normally choose, but I prefer the colour of the Creamy Tan to the Creamy Beige on my skin.
At £26.5o its not cheap, and its definitely not for everyone. If you like the natural/light coverage look, don't even consider it it. However If you like a full face or have scarring or bad blemishes you want to cover go for it! Its the best full coverage foundation I've ever used and I'm pretty sure I'll continue to use it! I wouldnt say its my ~holy grail~ yet, but its getting close!
Yes its full coverage, Yes its fake looking.e Yes it gives a bit of a ghost face in a flash. Yes its probably too much considering my skins actually not *that* bad. But Hey, I like it, so stick it Anon!
(My skin for reference: I have oily/combo skin, relatively good skin in terms of breakouts and spots, slight scarring on my chin. I have a very uneven olive and warm toned skin with very pink toned cheeks. Im a MAC NW/NC15 without tan and generally wear foundation this colour then darken/bronze up with bronzer!)

I'm always on the search for new foundations with a full coverage, so I think I'll def give this a go. Thank you for posting!XO

I wanted the double wear and when i said this to someone at work they were all 'no, your far to young, skins nice already' which i don't think it is aha and i want full coverage! did they give a reason to why wouldn't sell it to you first of?
ReplyDeleteplus that stick it anon comment just made me lol!
xx
YEAH! Wanna try this, though its definitely something I'd need to trial first just to see if I could apply it without looking like a total dick the second I leave the house - Hmm!! Is Mac Fix just like fancy water? Never really understood it! x
ReplyDeletei love love love full coverage too, definitely need to try this when student loan pops in x
ReplyDeleteI used normal double wear and then changed to maximum, the lady didn't want to sell it me either because my skin wasn't bad so I bought it else where! I think the coverage is much much much better than the normal double wear and yes the fact that you can squeeze it out reduces waste! This foundation last me between 3-4 months so I think it's worth the money!! I would say though if I didn't moisturize before the foundation wouldn't look good!
ReplyDeleteI don't have any scarring or spots but I have very red skin and freckles which I don't like so I'm always on the lookout for makeup with more coverage. Will def be trying :)
ReplyDeleteI want this! I went looking yesterday and there seems to be a lot of products in the Double Wear range, so I wasn't sure! This is the one, thank you. x

I've got creamy tan and it is quite dark but I love it. Like you said it covers scars and it does have a heavy make up look but I like that. Not a big fan of dewey make up x
ReplyDeleteI love this foundation, you only need the teeniest bit to cover your whole face so it'll last ages too x
ReplyDeleteI love Estee Lauder's product !
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love full coverage foundation too, I hate when you can still see red or blemishes on your skin. Really want to try this because I'm not too keen on MAC studio fix anymore. Will definitely be getting a tester x
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to contribute and say, as someone with extremely pale skin,b tu with LOTS of redness. it actually isn't that full coverage for me, but i love it as i wear that, then layer my double wear on the top. just want to let people know if you have lots of redness it won't be completely opaque
ReplyDeleteThat sounds fantastic. It looks gorgeous on you. X
ReplyDeleteI ordered this yesterday and can't wait to get it. I have horrible acne and scarring so sod light coverage :P
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad i'm not the only one who struggled to get this my local estee lauder reluctantly sells me normal double wear. They have this thing about full coverage on young skin blah blah blah, like you I love full coverage and I think you look fab with it on so there Estee Lauder suck on that haha! xxx
ReplyDeleteThey refused to sell it to you?! What the hell?!
ReplyDeleteIt looks lovely on you :-)

Oh Lily you've done it again- persuaded me! I love that look and will definitely be putting down my Studio Fix Fluid and trying this..
ReplyDelete'stick it anon' haha
ReplyDeleteI'm always so shy when asking for samples - but this sounds like a lovely product that would be worth trying out - might pop to the counter next time I'm shopping x
The Estee Lauder staff did that to me! D: And I actually have relatively bad skin but they were all 'nyah nyah natural glow' but I ended up having a sneaky match then running off and ordering online. I love it to pieces, It's like I'm wearing a flawless mask but it doesn't look too cakey and gross. Perfection. Totally blows Studio Fix out the window. Great review! :) xxx
ReplyDeleteI need to try this. I have quite a bit of acne scaring so 100% full coverage sounds good to me :) xx
ReplyDeleteI need to try this out, I think it'd be great for night's out or if you're needing long lasting full coverage some days! x
ReplyDeleteI really want to try this, it's sound so good. My skin isn't really bad but I hate my pinky/reddish cheeks, hopefully something will finally cover them up. xx
ReplyDeleteI've been wanting to get this for a long time but just never saw that many reviews on it, normal double wear just doesn't cover enough for me so I'm thinking I might have to actually invest in it after seeing a couple of reviews xx
ReplyDeleteLily, why didn't you post about this earlier?! I've *just* repurchased my normal bottle of Double Wear which will last about 6 months so can't go and buy this... but I really want to try it! Damnit! ;)
ReplyDeleteI love Double Wear. I think we have very similar skin types - oily, very few spots but scarring, redness in places. I also have enlarged pores on my cheeks and Double Wear is the only thing that works for all my problem areas. During the summer I use the light version (which also comes in the squeezy tube - so much easier!) but for winter I like fuller coverage - I also like the made-up look, I don't do natural! I think I might just have to try this.
Im exactly the same as you, like when you describe your skin and what you like your makeup to look like. I completely get what you mean. This review is brilliant, thank you so much for confirming to me that I need this in my life!!! xxx
ReplyDeleteCan't believe they didn't sell you it at first! I might go in there and lie that it's a Christmas present for my Mum ;) haha. Looks like a lovely foundation though!
ReplyDeletewhen i decided to shy away from high street foundation after speaking to my auntie who does the training in stores etc for estee lauder, she told me about both the double wear and also nutritious. i dont like it thick thick, but like the coverage. so i opted for the nutritious.
ReplyDeletei have since thought of changing to the double wear. and today even more so as she says they aren't making the nutritious anymore and will turn to bb. but apparently, double wear are doing a light. so i may try that.

I really want to try it! It's just that I don't really want to take the risk since I'm using the Chanel Perfection Lumière now though, I'm afraid that I wouldn't like the double wear maximum coverage!xo
ReplyDeletegreat post and a very nice picture!

Great review! I used to wear full coverage but prefer medium coverage now.
ReplyDeleteIt's personal preference really, the sales assistant shouldnt have refused to sell it to you!
I really want to try estee lauder double wear! x
