sunday portrait week 99

001. I haven't really talked about it much but Amsterdam was lovely last weekend! But it was ridiculously cold and had such a nice chilled atmosphere, not seedy or weird like how you'd imagine it to be. It really isnt as ~ladz on tour~ Of course there were Ladz and the obvious single men going to see hookers. But it was just really nice and laid back. Even took a casual stroll into the Red Light District by accident, was pretty hilarious. Was also this really weird parade with Santa in it and all these elves in medieval dress on rollerskates giving out biscuits! Slightly odd but was still good! Drank so much coffee and ate too many frites and waffles!

002. Tomorrow I'm speaking at Handpicked Media Gets Social, It should be really good, informative social media style conference. My train is stressing me out as its telling me online its going to cost £118 when I normally pay £42, so fingers crossed its the normal price when I go to the station tomorrow or there will be tears! Kidding, I'll just have to go a bit later in the day. The hashtag is #HPMsocial if you wanted to follow it throughout the day! I'll be tweeting stuff about it during the day that might help bloggers. And no its not sponsored tweets and I'm not being paid to talk. Social Media is something I'm genuinely interested in and what I hope to end up working in one day! Implementing social media properly can be the difference to having a successful blog or brand.

003. I need to see Breaking Dawn. I dont love Twilight and I dont hate it, I do like it quite a bit (secretly!) and dislike that I've not seen it yet. Was thinking of going to go today on my own, I've been to the cinema on my own a few times before and it doesnt bother me. I'm just a bit iffy about seeing Twilight alone! I dont wanna look like some Twi-hard sobbing in the corner!

004. Rediscovered my old favourite lipstick, Barry M Peachy Pink 147. Had a little lipstick clear out today to sanitize them (germaphobe, much?) and found it lurking at the back. Barry M is a brand I hardly use anymore after it slipping off the general blogging radar (apart from those awful crackle and foil nailpolishes, vom!) However  I forgot how much I liked the lipstick, might buy a few more colours from Boots this week! I noticed they had a new colour online called Pale Nude which reminds me of MAC Shy Girl, will have to investigate!

  2. You're so lucky to have been able to go to Amsterdam! It's definitely one of the places I want to see in my life, especially the Red Light District (no but seriously, hahaha).
Also - really hope that train fare sorts itself out tomorrow for you. That's way too expensive to have to pay! (Though I think train fares in England are way overpriced anyway)

Do not buy Pale Nude! haha! I bought it (and reviewed it) and it is useless. Complete waste of money. Shame to say as I usually love Barry M!

  6. I loved Amsterdam, spent far too much of my money on expensive beer and DIY noodles! Definitely feel the same about crackle polish, I think it makes nails looked diseased! x

  14. When we were in Amsterdam, we ventured into the Red Light District by mistake as well. Glad you had such a fabulous time. I secretly want to see Breaking Dawn as well, but I will be able to wait a few more weeks until the craziness dies down.

  19. I'd love to explore Amsterdam! Will have to look into it :-)

Agree about the crackle polishes.... especially the black one. Hate the effect, looks like your nails are really dirty! Also not a fan of the new "magnetic" polishes, they make your nails look like there's weird bumps and ridges on them, like you get after you've worn acrylics for a long time :-/

  25. I went to see Breaking Dawn today and I just LOVED it. In my opinion the best movie out of the 4. And yes, the wedding scene totally made me cry! But what I wanted to say was that you should totally go, it is so worth it.

And like many others here I would totally love to discover Amsterdam as well. I have this certain picture of it in my head, hopefully the reality will be as good or even better!

  29. ugh i really want to see Breaking Dawn. I seriously don't like Twilight, the plot is just awfff, but I'm so drawn to movies like that haha! I only started watching them because I thought the cinematography was lovely...and now I think Taylor Lautners torso is lovely, also. Must keep all this a secret to the real world...

  30. Nooo it was not a Santa parade! it was part of the dutch holiday 'sinterklaas' which is kinda like christmas but a bit different. And the elves were 'pieten' anyway good to hear you had such a nice time in amsterdam!

  33. I'm the biggest Twilight fan (no shame!) but Breaking Dawn was really crap. But enjoyably crap, as all the other Twilight movies are. There was some girl kicking the back of my seat the entire time, which put me in a bad mood, so that is posssibly why I didn't enjoy it as much, haha. So annoying though grrrrrrrr.

  34. breaking dawn was so good! if you have read the books, you really cannot say that you didn't like the movie. aside from the few corny parts, which are to be expected, i absolutely loved it. very true to the book.

  35. I love it when I find things that are lost, it definitely sparks up old memories and invites me to get MORE MORE MORE! And I hope you do go see Breaking Dawn sometimes, I know for sure the soundtrack is great!

  40. I'm not a massive Twilight fan (that didn't stop my boyfriend and I camping outside Screen 8 on Saturday for 45 minutes - by accident), but I do like to see the films when they come out. I thought it was good, you should see it! x

  41. I feel the same way you do about Twilight. I've been debating going to see it on my own cuz since I moved up north I've been doing solo cinema trips quite a lot since there's no way I can convince my boyfriend to go and see girly films with me. Twilight though… I feel a bit uneasy about going and buying a single ticket… there's a bit of a stigma attached I feel! May well do it though cuz although I'm definitely not a Twi-hard I don't like that I haven't been yet. X

  42. I was in Amsterdam and saw that parade too. Luckily I was with a Dutch person so they were able to explain the madness. Google 'Zwarte Piet' and that will explain the little helpers running around haha.
